The parents of a bride found with 20 stab wounds have won the right to challenge the ruling her death was a suicide.

Professor Ellen Greenberg’s death was initially ruled a homicide, but was later changed to suicide in 2011.

After 13 years of campaigning, this week Greenberg’s parents received an appeal to hear the case.

They argued how unlikely it was that Greenberg could have stabbed himself so many times.

Greenberg’s body was found on the kitchen floor of his Philadelphia apartment on January 26.

Her fiancé Sam Goldberg discovered her body with 10 stab wounds to the neck and back of the head and 10 to the stomach, abdomen and chest.

Goldberg told police he broke down the apartment’s locked door to get inside.

As previously reported by The US Sun, Goldberg told a 911 operator that he believed Greenberg had slipped and hit his head.

Greenberg was 27 years old when he died.

Philadelphia Assistant Medical Examiner Marlon Osbourne initially ruled his death a homicide.

But he then changed the decision to suicide after meeting with police and prosecutors.

Then-Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro’s office reviewed Greenberg’s case between December 2021 and January 2022 and reaffirmed that his death was a suicide, as reported by CBS News.

Sandra Greenberg, Ellen’s mother, said she was “completely disgusted” by this decision.

“I just can’t believe what’s coming out The office of a person who is trying to run for governor”, said Sandra.

“He [Shapiro] stole four years from us by keeping the case in his office, and we have no evidence that he did anything,” Sandee Greenberg told Fox News Digital.

Josh Greenberg, Ellen’s father, said “these people let me down.”

“I think this is a cruel homicide,” he said.

In July 2022, a YouTuber claimed that Goldberg’s family contributed to Shapiro’s campaign, creating a conflict of interest.

And Shapiro recused himself three days later, arguing there was no conflict of interest.

He declined to comment to the Daily Mail at the time this occurred.

The US Sun has reached out to Shapiro’s office for comment.

“Authorities trying to make us believe that our daughter committed suicide when she didn’t is simply reprehensible to me,” Sandra said in 2022.

Last year, Greenberg’s mother said Fox News that “it’s hard to believe, with the amount of facts in the universe, that no one can understand where we are now.”

“And politicians are unfair,” she said.

“The big question is why Josh Shapiro, Mayor Kenney of Chester County, the courtsthey are radio silence,” said Sandra.

“If they had a loved one walking in the same shoes as us, they would already have the answers.”

Josh Greenberg told the same channel that he believed “my daughter was being abused.”

“Someone didn’t want Ellen’s abuse to spread… and that’s why she’s dead,” he said.

According to the autopsy report, Greenberg’s body was covered in bruises that were in different stages of healing.

There is still no date for any hearing at the Federal Supreme Court and the appeal could take up to a year.
