JAY Slater’s funeral is being targeted by “vile trolls” and scammers looking to profit from the teenager’s death, a charity working with the family has said.

The shocking move was branded “hurtful and deeply disrespectful” to the Brit’s heartbroken parents, who only returned to the UK with Jay’s body last week.

The trolls claim to have access to a live streaming link where people can watch Jay’s funeral when it takes place in a few days.

To watch, scammers are asking viewers to send money through donations.

The family has vehemently denied that any live footage is available online and criticized the people behind the horrific stunt.

Chief executive Matthew Searle of LBT Global said: “We are inundated with reports of these scams and as quickly as we get the platforms to remove them, more appear.

“To be completely clear – there is no live stream of Jay’s funeral, and anyone claiming to offer one is a scam.

“As hurtful and deeply disrespectful as it is, this is taking away vital donations from a small charity.

“We ask that anyone who sees one of these pages reports it to the platform. Please do not follow them or send money.

“It is so typical of the vile trolling this family has received that they would target something as special as a funeral.”

Online bullies have constantly criticized Jay’s mother, Debbie Duncan, 55, and other family members since the teenager went missing.

Sickos were caught selling merchandise featuring photos and memes of Jay online less than 24 hours after his body was found last month.

The family was also plagued by online trolls who took over Jay’s Instagram page.

Jay’s furious father, Warren Slater, was even forced to hit back at trolls for criticizing his family.

He asked detectives to imagine the pain he was feeling and said they should come to Tenerife and “see for themselves” how difficult the search is.

Jay’s mum Debbie made a painful trip back to the UK last week with dad Warren and Jay’s 24-year-old brother Zak.

The teenager’s funeral is scheduled for Saturday, August 10, at Accrington Crematorium Chapel.

The family encouraged everyone attending the funeral on Saturday to wear blue and bring family flowers or individual roses.

Jay’s family has launched another fundraiser through the charity LBT Global, which promises to use the proceeds to support families of missing people.

An LBT press release said the funds will be used to help “combat online trolling and the spread of misinformation targeting victims and families of missing persons, seen at worryingly high levels throughout Jay’s case.”

Along with any new donations, the cost of the funeral will be covered by the original GoFundMe page created by Jay’s friend Lucy Mae Law in the days following his disappearance.

Fundraising soared to over £70,000 with over 5,600 donations.

Participants are asked to wear something blue in his memory.

Only flowers for the family please, but if anyone would like to bring a single rose to Jay’s house they would be more than welcome.

Jay’s body was tragically found on Monday at the bottom of a treacherous ravine in Masca – four weeks after he went missing while on holiday with his friends to the NRG music festival.

The 19-year-old apprentice bricklayer traveled to a remote Airbnb in Masca with two men in the early hours of June 17.

He spent the entire night partying in Playa de las Americas, about an hour’s drive away.

In the morning he attempted the 11-hour walk back to his accommodation, miles away.

Jay made one last tragic phone call to his friend Lucy Law to say he was lost, needed water and only had one percent battery left on his phone.

That was the last time Jay, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancshire, was heard from and a massive search mission was launched.

Jay’s family stayed in Santiago del Teide, the gateway town to the mountainous region, during the hunt.

Jay’s father, Warren, and brother Zak spent weeks searching for a discovery in the unforgiving terrain after the teenager went missing on June 17.

They retraced their steps in the scorching heat for days on their own after Spanish police suspended the search.

But his body was finally discovered by a helicopter crew on Monday, at the bottom of a ravine near where his cell phone last rang.

Tributes and flowers poured in days after Jay’s body was found.

Debbie left a handwritten note that said, “I miss you so much. You will always be young and I will miss you forever. I love you so much.”

Papa Warren said, “For my son. I love daddy.”

While Zak added: “Love you bro. Never in a million years did I think I would do this.”
