Newly released body camera footage shows what happened in the moments leading up Travis Scottarrest earlier this year in Miami. Obtained and published by TMZthe clips show the Houston rapper pleading with authorities, explaining his anxiety about being outnumbered.
In a confrontation with the owner and captain of a yacht he claimed to have rented, the Grammy-nominated artist was first able to walk away. The musician details that the men were “disrespectful” in trying to get him to leave the yacht. That’s when he returned to allegedly retrieve a backpack he accidentally left behind when the interaction between Scott and Miami police officers resulted in an arrest.
“Are you really going to lock me in after I was trying to get my bag?” asked the 33-year-old. “This is a waste of your time now.”
He continued to explain, “You guys scared me, because you scared me, you told me to get out now or you’re going to handcuff me,” adding, “There’s 50 cops around me, bro.”
Travis Scott, legal name Jacques Bermon Webster II, was initially taken into custody in June for the incident, with bail set at $650 – $150 for the public intoxication charges and $500 for trespassing. According to the tabloid, the alcohol-related charges were dropped. However, he still faces trespassing charges.
After being arrested, the rapper sent a message on social media, typing a vague and simple response that said, “Lol.”
“Mr. Scott was briefly detained due to a misunderstanding,” his legal representative, Bradford Cohen, explained in a statement to VIBE at the time.
“There were absolutely no physical altercations involved and we thank authorities for working with us towards a quick and amicable resolution.”
On Friday (August 9) Travis Scott was arrested in France following a physical altercation with a security guard at the Paris Four Seasons Hotel George V.
