Alyssa Farah Griffin is paying close attention donald trumpin silent money trial …and she has some questions for the prosecution.
The former White House communications director and current co-host of “The View” stopped by CNN to share her opinion on the legal strategy behind her former boss being forced to revive his affair with Stormy Daniels in the public eye. Daniels took the witness stand Tuesday to detail her alleged sexual encounter in a Lake Tahoe hotel room in 2006, and Griffin expressed concern that the accusation had become too “salacious” for the jury.
Asked how a Trump-led Republican party will respond to the day’s testimony, Griffin said “it will be a mix of outrage that the former president has to sit there and hear those salacious details — his wife’s name coming up, this allegation that he said they didn’t share the same room,” Farah Griffin told the host Jake Tapper in “Leadership”. “But I also think the defense did a pretty effective job today.”
“I mean this; I’m not a lawyer, I know Republican voters and I know the Republican public. I’m a little surprised that the prosecution focused so much on the salacious details about the sexual encounter rather than talking about who is stormy daniels,” she continued. “I interviewed her recently, she’s a mother, almost broke because of her ex-lawyer, now paying Trump’s legal bills. She’s someone who could be a very sympathetic figure and who could also have credibility. ”
Farah Griffin concluded: “I think really leaning that way… I don’t know if that’s going to play well with a jury. This was something that happened in 2006, she was 27 years old, he was 60. This data is important.”
Trump’s hush money trial began April 15 in Manhattan. The former president is accused of instructing his former lawyer Michael Cohen to bribe Daniels, a former adult film star, to keep her silent about their affair, before allegedly covering up these payments by falsely recording them as legal fees .
Farah Griffin’s comments came on the same day that MSNBC analyst Renato Mariotti noted how anyone — especially female jury members – could relate to Daniels’ story.
“Not everyone is an adult entertainment artist, but everyone, and especially women, have experiences with power dynamics,” said Mariotti, a former federal prosecutor. “People – whoever you are – have the experience of being taken advantage of by someone who is more powerful than you.”
Day 14 of Trump’s trial to silence the money continues on Thursday.
