Time magazine wasted little time running a future front page following the conviction of former President Donald Trump in a secret trial on Thursday.
The publication published the cover of the June 24 edition — featuring a new illustration by the Cuban-American artist Edel Rodríguez – several weeks earlier on X, formerly Twitter.
The image showed a gavel being struck on a sound block, which in itself is an abstract interpretation of the Republican presidential candidate’s face:
Rodriguez has mockingly portrayed Trump to the media outlet on several previous occasions, showing the convicted former POTUS as literally meltingas a peach during his first impeachment for extorting Ukraine and as a wrecking ball dismantling the government.
In 2018, Rodriguez marked Trump’s first year in office with this illustration of the then-president’s hair as fire:
He also addressed Trump’s disastrous handling of the coronavirus pandemic with this photo of him and a missing face mask:
To Germany Der SpiegelMeanwhile, Rodriguez illustrated Trump as a Lunatic decapitator of the Statue of Libertyone asteroid heading to Earth and how to use one Klu Klux Klan Hoodie.
Rodriguez, who fled Cuba for America as a child, said HuffPost in 2017 that his dislike of Trump stemmed from growing up under a brutal dictatorship on the Caribbean island.
