Anyone want to have dinner and launch a rocket?

Consider adding a nighttime rocket launch as another “fun thing to do on the 772” this week. Potentially, you will have the chance to see a SpaceX Falcon 9 takes off at nightcarrying Starlink internet satellites.

Can you see a rocket launch from Kennedy Space Center or Cape Canaveral near Vero Beach or Stuart, Florida? Weather permitting and depending on cloud cover, yes, rocket launches from the nearby Space Coast may be visible in the Treasure Coast area.

Below is a calendar for the next rocket releases and suggestions on where to watch them in Indian River County, Martin County and St. Louis County. If there are changes to the release, this story will be updated.

Is there a rocket launch from Florida? Friday, June 7: SpaceX Starlink

  • Mission: According to a navigation advisory from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, a launch window for the SpaceX Starlink rocket will open on the evening of Friday, June 7.

  • To throw: 6:58 pm to 11:26 pm EDT, Friday, June 7

  • Location: Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station

  • Trajectory: Southeast

  • Live coverage: If you want to watch live coverage of the rocket launch, FLORIDA TODAY Space Team will provide updates on floridatoday.com/space, starting about 90 minutes before launch time. Where can I see a rocket launch in Florida in Indian River County, St. Lucie County, and Martin County? What’s the view like from the Treasure Coast rocket launch?

The best views to watch a rocket launch in neighboring Brevard County, also known as the Space Coast, are here along the beach. Visibility in Indian River County, St. Louis County and Martin County, part of the Treasure Coast, will depend on weather conditions, and people should make sure not to block traffic or rights of way on bridges and follow rules posted at beaches. Look to the north. Here are some recommended locations, from those closest to Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and Kennedy Space Center to those further away:

• Almost anywhere in Brevard you can see the rocket launch. That includes Melbourne Beachwhich borders Indian River County, or Grant-Valkaria along the Indian River Lagoon.
