We finally got to see a house move at the old Flea World site in Seminole County.
Drone 9 flew over the vacant lot.
Channel 9 has reported on several plans to develop the Orlando Drive property over the years.
The process of attempting to redevelop this land has been at a standstill for 10 years, since it was linked in inventory to the entry and exit of developers.
But now the county has found a project that will work.

Flea World was once a mini amusement park and amusement market – completely decapitated and now desolate.
Flea World closed in 2015.
Syd Levy, the owner, was about to sell it to create the Reagan Center. It would have been a mixed-use development.

This never happened because Levy died during these plans.
Almost ten years later, another proposal emerged. The county said this is a reduction from previous suggestions.
There will be about 1,000 multifamily units – commercial retail offices, an assisted living facility and a hotel. The developer will be required to make road and traffic improvements.
Canal 9 spoke with José Gomez about the death of development in the municipality.

“It’s great that that land that has been empty for many years is going to be put to use,” Gomez said. “So that’s fantastic. I think we have a good, realistic plan for the future, which I hope will be successful.”
The development order will go to the board for rezoning. Engineering plans and traffic studies must be submitted and we hope to see permits approved next year.
Developers hope to innovate in the coming years. When the units are completed, this property will not have any affordable housing.
