Jay Slater’s mother makes desperate appeal for missing Tenerife teenager

Spanish police have refused help from British officers in locating missing teenager Jay Slater, who went missing in a remote part of Tenerife.

Lancashire Police said the Spanish Guardia Civil declined its “offer of support” to help with the search, which has already included firefighters, helicopters, rescue dogs and drones scouring a large swath of rugged terrain.

Slater, 19, has been missing since Monday, after he was last seen in Buenavista del Norte, where he twice asked the owner of a cafe what time the bus arrived, around 8am, before leaving and disappear.

Fifteen minutes later, he called his friend to say he was lost, dehydrated and had 1% battery life on his phone after attending a music festival the night before.

A Lancashire Police spokesman saidThe Independent: “They have confirmed that they are currently satisfied that they have the resources they require, but that offer remains open and they will contact us if that position changes.”

The teen was last seen wearing a white t-shirt with shorts and sneakers, and his phone shows his last location as Teno Rural park at 8:50 a.m., about 27 miles from the festival he was at.

Spanish police refuse help from British police

Spanish police have refused help from British officers in the search for missing teenager Jay Slater after he disappeared in Tenerife.

Lancashire Police said it had “made an offer of support” to the Spanish Guardia Civil to provide additional resources for the ongoing search.

A spokesperson said The Independent: “Although this case is outside the jurisdiction of UK policing, we have made an offer of support to the Guardia Civil to see if they need additional resources.

“They have confirmed that they are currently happy to have the resources they need, but that offer remains open and they will contact us if that position changes.”

Missing teenager ‘asked bus times’ before disappearing

Missing British teenager Jay Slater asked a cafe owner for bus times moments before he disappeared on a remote part of a Spanish island.

Slater, 19, twice asked witness Ofelia Medina Hernandez what time the bus arrived in Buenavista Del Norte, Tenerife, at around 8am on Monday.

The last we heard from him was on Monday morning, when he phoned his friend Lucy Law at 8.15am to say he was lost, dehydrated and had 1% of his phone’s battery after attending a music festival.

Hernandez told Sky News: “I saw the boy in the morning, around 8am. He asked twice what time the bus arrived. I told him ‘at 10 o’clock’. He came back and asked me again, and I said again – at 10 o’clock.

Who were the men Mr. Slater was with?

After meeting two men, described as British, during the festival, Slater decided to return to his AirBnb while his friends returned home.

Little is known about them and they have since returned to the UK after being briefly questioned by Spanish police.

Immediately after their disappearance, their friend Ms Law tracked them down at their AirBnb after spending time matching Mr Slater’s Snapchat images to the location.

She said Online Mail: “They seemed surprised and surprised that I had found them and asked where Jay was.

“They said he had gone out to try and look for cigarettes and then came back and said he was going out to try and catch a bus back to the city.

“They seemed shocked that I had managed to find them and I know the police spoke to them but it turned out they had left the country. They need to be spoken properly.”
