A new report provides an update on Shane McMahonthe status of and the rumors about him potentially coming to AEW.

In a recent episode of Grilling JR, Jim Ross noted that McMahon coming into the company was so crazy it could work. Conrad Thompson later quoted a friend who said that McMahon had spoken to AEW wrestlers about the possibility of joining. Tony Khan was then quoted as saying that he had never spoken to McMahon.

Sean Ross Sapp’s Fighter (by Fighting Selection) reports that, according to sources, Shane McMahon was not raised “at a high level” at AEW.

Sapp writes that the talent was told that McMahon’s appearance was not something that had been considered. The report reiterates that McMahon spoke about this to others and did not appear to object to it. However, before this week, it hadn’t been a topic of conversation in AEW.

Shane McMahon last appeared on WWE programming at WWE WrestleMania 39 and tore his quad in the match. According to Sapp, McMahon no longer has a contract with WWE; he doesn’t have a legends contract or anything like that, although he did appear in WWE 2K24 as part of a separate deal.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
