New Delhi:
Indian-American Congressman Ro Khanna today said the expulsion of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from his country was “good”, but the “violence now targeting Hindus was wrong”.
“Bangladesh students only had human rights concerns against Prime Minister Hasina. It is good that she is gone. But the violence now targeting Hindus is wrong. Prime Minister Yunus must uphold the rule of law and prevent temples or people of any political party or religion are targets of violence,” wrote Ro Khanna in a post on X today.
The Bangladeshi students had only human rights concerns against Prime Minister Hasina. I’m glad she’s gone. But the violence now targeting Hindus is wrong. PM Yunus must defend the rule of law and prevent temples or people from any political party or religion from being targets of violence.

Sheikh Hasina, 76, was forced to resign as prime minister on Monday after a month of anti-government protests against a government jobs quota that killed more than 400 people.
Hasina left Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka on a military plane bound for India following her resignation. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar yesterday said the government is giving time to Sheikh Hasina to “recover” and inform them about her next move.
Sources had earlier mentioned that she wanted to leave for London and seek asylum, but this claim was rejected by her son Sajeeb Wazed.
The Bangladesh Army formed an interim government in the country on Thursday, with Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus as its chief adviser.
