Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday addressed his forces’ incursion into Russia’s southern Kursk region for the first time, five days after the offensive began.
Zelensky said in his evening video address that the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian armed forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, updated him on the “advancement of the war on the territory of the aggressor.”
Ukraine is proving that it is “capable of ensuring justice” and exerting “pressure on the aggressor”, he added.
Neither Zelensky nor the military in Kiev provided any additional details on the current situation regarding the advance of Ukrainian troops into Russian territory.
The Ukrainian president only indirectly hinted at the attack in the direction of Kursk in recent days, saying in his Thursday night speech: “Russia brought war to our land and should feel what she did.”
