China’s summer heat led a man to commit an unusual series of robberies that required some useful skills to complete – he dismantled more than 20 air conditioners, tried to sell them, and was detained in the central Chinese city of Changsha. China.

Local media reported on Tuesday, citing police, that the thief was arrested in mid-July. He dismantled and removed the indoor units and outdoor modules of air conditioners from unsupervised locations, mainly stores.

He later put them up for sale. A video shows him dismantling an air conditioning module from the wall of a house at night and transporting it on his scooter.

Large parts of China are repeatedly hit by persistent heatwaves during the summer months. It is quite common for many homes, offices and stores to be equipped with several air conditioning units.

The People’s Republic is not just facing high temperatures. There was heavy rain throughout the summer, which led to regular flash floods, with deaths in many places.
