US police dismissed reports of Goldy Brar’s murder as “disinformation” (Archive)

US police have denied reports that Goldy Brar, the gangster behind the murder of singer Sidhu Moose Wala, was killed in a shootout in California.

Two men were reportedly shot yesterday at Fairmont and Holt Avenue in Fresno, California after a fight. One of them later died in hospital, US police said. Following the incident, many people on social media speculated that the person killed in the incident was Canadian gangster Goldy Brar. The reports were also picked up by some news agencies.

The Fresno Police Department has now responded to the reports, saying they are “false.” In response to a question, Lt. William J. Dooley said, “If you are asking because of the online chatter claiming the shooting victim is ‘Goldy Brar,’ we can confirm that is absolutely not true.”

Calling the reports “misinformation,” the lieutenant said the police department is receiving inquiries from around the world.

“We received inquiries from around the world this morning as a result of the spread of misinformation on social media and online news outlets. We’re not sure who started this rumor, but it caught on and spread like wildfire. Is not true. The victim is definitely not Goldy,” he added.

According to some local reports, the man killed in the incident has now been identified as 37-year-old Xavier Galdney.

Satinderjit Singh aka Goldy Brar is a wanted criminal and has been named a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. A Red Corner Notice has been issued against him by Interpol and there is also a non-bailable warrant issued against him.

Considered a prominent member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, Goldy Brar came into limelight after claiming responsibility for the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala through a Facebook post. Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead in his car near his village in Mansa district, Punjab, on May 29, 2022.
