A US soldier has been detained in Russia, becoming the latest US citizen to be imprisoned in the North Asian country.

American army Sergeant Gordon D. Black was arrested in Vladivostoka Pacific port city near the border with North Korea on May 2 on suspicion of robbery.

Black is accused of robbing a woman, Pentagon officials say CBS News.

U.S. authorities are working to determine how the U.S. Army sergeant arrived in Russia.

Black was stationed in South Korea and is believed to have traveled alone to Russia.

The U.S. Army notified Black’s family and the US State Department about his detention.
