A piece of ice fell from a plane in the United States and killed a family’s pet goat, according to a report in UK Underground. The incident occurred in Utah on May 6 at around 9:30 am. Cassidy Lewis was in her home when she heard a loud bang that shook the entire house.
When she came out, she saw her pets going crazy. She said, “The roosters were going crazy, the horses were going crazy.” The woman saw a large hole in the roof of the shed where she kept the goats. After further checks, she found an injured goat that was bleeding profusely. Furthermore, there were chunks of ice underneath the hole in the floor.
She continued: “It was at least a basketball-sized chunk of ice, I would assume, especially because of the size of the hole and the amount of ice there was on the ground.”
At first, she was shocked and believed it could have been an explosion. Photos taken at the scene revealed ice on the roof adjacent to a hole, with the top of the shed punctured.
Ice fell from a plane, which was the only logical explanation offered by police officers. “He just said we are below the flight path and it could have been ice from a plane, which I had no idea could happen,” Lewis said.
The woman said she took the animal to the veterinarian, but it could not be saved and was euthanized.
She also made requests for an investigation into the event to Salt Lake City International Airport and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Ms. Lewis said the FAA told her they are investigating the possible plane the ice fell from. Notably, her house is in the airport’s flight path.
“Honestly, every time I hear a plane go by, I keep thinking that it makes me a little nervous that this could happen again. Apparently we were very unlucky to get hit,” she added.
