The European Union is closely monitoring the situation in Iran following reports of an incident involving a helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

“Closely following reports that the helicopter carrying the Iranian President and Foreign Minister was forced to land unexpectedly,” said the President of the European Council. Carlos Michel said on social media platform X.

The condition of both Iranian politicians is “still unclear,” Michel added.

“Together with EU Member States and partners, we are closely monitoring the situation,” he said.
