Kevin Bui, who is now 20, pleaded guilty this week.

A teenager from Colorado, United States, faces up to six decades in prison for killing a family of five after setting fire to the wrong house in revenge for his stolen iPhone, according to a report from New York Post Office. Kevin Bui, who is now 20, pleaded guilty this week to starting the overnight fire in a Denver neighborhood in August 2020 after tracking his stolen phone nearby using the “Find my iPhone” app. The man, who was 16 at the time, was seen as the mastermind behind the fire that killed the Senegalese family, which included two young daughters.

The Diol family – a couple in their early twenties, their daughter, his relative and her daughter, died in the fire. Three others broke bones trying to escape the fire by jumping from the second floor.

CCTV footage captured that night showed Bui and his two friends wearing masks and hoodies as they set fire to the house. The three were named suspects after obtaining a search warrant for Google to provide IP addresses that searched the home’s address 15 days after the fire. They were arrested almost five months after the incident.

Dillon Siebert, who was 14 at the time, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder last year and was sentenced to three years in juvenile detention and seven years in a state prison program for young inmates.

In March, Gavin Seymour, a 19-year-old who pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder, was sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Meanwhile, Bui was prosecuted as an adult and sentenced to up to 60 years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of second-degree murder.
