Dong Dong the chimpanzee throwing a shoe out of the zoo enclosure

Dong Dong, the chimpanzee, doesn’t believe in the saying “discoverers, keepers”.

The compassionate chimpanzee resides in the Shendiao Mountain Wildlife Park in China’s Shandong province, according to Newsflare. On May 13, a zoo visitor stopped by the chimpanzee exhibit and accidentally dropped his sandal in the habitat while observing the animals.

After the shoe landed in the primate enclosure, Dong Dong approached the shoe and picked it up. The animal then began to play with the surprise gift, to the dismay of the shoe’s owner.

In response, the zoo visitor located a zookeeper and asked for help retrieving his sandal. The keeper agreed to help and communicated with Dong Dong from the walkway above the chimpanzee enclosure.

Footage of the exchange shows the monkey, who is sitting with the sandal in his mouth at the beginning of the clip, looking at the zookeeper as the person addresses him. Shortly after the keeper communicates with Dong Dong, the chimpanzee deftly throws the sandal from its perch up and over the fence surrounding its habitat. The primate’s high throw is accurate enough to hit the sandal near the keeper’s feet.
