Lebanon’s southern border has seen an increase in hostilities in recent days

Beirut:

The Lebanese armed group Hezbollah said on Monday it had launched a squadron of drones towards the headquarters of the Israeli military formation in Galilee.

Such an attack would be Hezbollah’s first involving a squadron of drones since the beginning of its exchanges of fire with Israel, which occurred in parallel with the war between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military on the report, but sirens sounded three times in northern Israel on Monday to warn of attacks from Lebanon.

The Israeli military said in a statement that on Monday it killed Ali Hussein Sabra, a military agent from the “Hezbollah Force Building Unit.”

It also said its forces attacked Hezbollah’s infrastructure consisting of several military compounds in the Qotrani area of southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah said its squad attack came in response to Israel’s killing of one of its members in the southern village of Zrariyeh.

The Iran-aligned group also said it launched drones on Sunday toward Liman in northern Israel.

Lebanon’s southern border has seen an increase in hostilities in recent days, with both the Israeli military and Hezbollah attacking locations outside the border strip where the exchanges of fire were concentrated, and with greater intensity.

On Sunday, Israeli strikes killed two civilians in the town of Houla, where they had remained throughout the conflict to herd their cattle, security sources and town residents told Reuters. They were buried on Monday in their hometown.

Israeli warplanes flew over Beirut on Monday, according to residents.
