G7 endorses Biden's peace plan and calls on Hamas to accept agreement

The G7 calls on Hamas to accept this agreement, with which Israel is ready to move forward.

Pomegranate:

The G7 group of developed countries said on Monday it supports a Gaza peace deal endorsed by US President Joe Biden and called on Hamas to accept it.

“We, the leaders of the Group of Seven (G7), fully support “the truce plan” that would lead to an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the release of all hostages, a significant and sustained increase in humanitarian assistance for distribution throughout Gaza, and a lasting end to the crisis, with Israel’s security interests and Gaza’s civilian security assured,” the statement read.

“We call on Hamas to accept this agreement, which Israel is ready to move forward with, and we urge countries with influence over Hamas to help ensure it does so,” he continued.

The three-phase proposal – which Biden presented on Friday as an Israeli initiative – aims to end the conflict, release all hostages and lead to the reconstruction of Palestinian territory without Hamas in power.

It begins with a full six-week ceasefire that calls for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from all populated areas of Gaza.

The G7 countries are the United States, Canada, Japan, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
