Mosley, who was on the island with his wife, was last seen alive at 1.30pm on Wednesday.
Athens:
British TV presenter and healthy-living advocate Michael Mosley has been found dead on the Greek island of Symi, the island’s deputy mayor told Reuters on Sunday.
Mosley, 67, had been missing since Wednesday after walking alone along a coastal path in scorching heat.
Police spokeswoman Constantina Dimoglidou had previously said that the body of a person believed to be Mosley had been found in the Agia Marina area, but that identification was pending.
“The island’s mayor and a journalist from state TV ERT were filming the Agia Marina area when they spotted the body,” said deputy mayor Nikitas Grillis. “It certainly is him.”
Another police officer said the body was found in rocky terrain near the sea, rejecting earlier reports that it was found in a cave. Police were investigating the scene.
Mosley, who was on the island with his wife, was last seen alive at 1:30 pm (10:30 GMT) on Wednesday.
He disappeared after following a rocky coastal path from Agios Nikolaos beach to the village of Pedi, triggering a search operation.
