Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership over the last 10 years, Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay on Sunday said India has grown spectacularly and development in infrastructure – airports, roads, railways, sea lanes has been unprecedented.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Mr. Tobgay termed foreign policy as one of the greatest achievements of Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.

He expressed happiness to be in India to attend the inauguration ceremony of Prime Minister-designate Modi. He observed that the BJP and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) enjoy the trust and confidence of the people, which reflects their performance.

Asked how he sees India under Modi’s leadership, Tshering Tobgay said, “Well, looking forward, you look back at the last 10 years. During the last 10 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’s leadership, India has grown spectacularly. Infrastructure, the development in infrastructure has been unprecedented – airports, roads, railways, shipping lanes, IT, all this growth has been spectacular.”

“In the area of ​​FDI, there has been a lot of FDI, a lot of manufacturing, renewable energy, particularly solar energy, agriculture, poverty alleviation. So to see what will happen in Modi 3.0 and then Modi 3.0, just look back to see what happened and one of the biggest achievements was also foreign policy, be it the immediate region and the Neighborhood First Policy or even the successful outcome of the G20 under India’s presidency or beyond. economic growth, I can see many more foreign policy successes under Modi 3.0,” he added.

Tobgay termed this a great day for India and said he is honored to represent the King of Bhutan and the people of Bhutan at the swearing-in ceremony of PM-designate PM Modi. He congratulated India on the positive outcome of the Lok Sabha elections.

At the inauguration ceremony, the Prime Minister of Bhutan said, “Well, I am very happy to be in India. I am very happy to be back soon after my last visit here. That was just three months ago. This is truly a moment very big day for India and I am honored to be here representing His Majesty the King and the people of Bhutan at the inauguration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and that too for the third time in a row.”

“I congratulate the people of India on the successful outcome of the recent elections. And for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for the BJP and for the NDA, they have won the people’s mandate. They enjoy the trust and confidence of the people, which reflects its performance over the last 10 years. So it’s a great day for India. It’s also a great day for the region as Prime Minister Narendra Modi has personally invited us and we are very pleased to be here,” he added.

Earlier in the day, Bhutan’s Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay landed in the national capital to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi today. He was warmly received at the airport by Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs (West), Pavan Kapoor.

Emphasizing that ties between India and Bhutan will get stronger, Tobgay said, “Well, the ties between our two countries are very strong. I think they will get stronger. And they will get stronger simply because at the highest levels in the Bhutan, under the enlightened leadership of our monarchs, His Majesty the King, and in India, from the President to the Prime Minister, to many of the leaders and the respect for our two respective countries is very strong and only growing.”

Recalling PM Modi’s last visit to Bhutan, Tshering Tobgay said he received the highest civilian honor and announced support for all Bhutan’s initiatives. He stated that Modi, appointed by the PM, gave unconditional support to Gelephu Mindfulness City.

When asked about expectations on the India-Bhutan relationship during Prime Minister Modi’s third term, Tobgay replied, “During Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Bhutan, he was very generous with his time in this. He came to the Bhutan despite his very, very busy schedule. It was at the end of his term and he still came to Bhutan where he received the highest civilian award from His Majesty the King. During the visit, he also announced his support for all our initiatives , to our development initiatives, to our plans for the Gelephu Mindfulness City.”

“Prime Minister Modi gave us unconditional support for Gelephu Mindfulness City and then our development plan. Our economy is still recovering. Then, he announced an assistance package of 15 billion rupees, 1,500 crores for the our economic stimulus package. And then for our 13-year plan, he announced an assistance package of 8,500 crores. So, all of this will be extremely helpful for us and going forward we will have a lot to do together,” he added.

Bhutan’s Prime Minister Tobgay is among the distinguished guests who will attend the much-awaited ceremony where BJP leader Modi will be sworn in as Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive time.

With the BJP winning 240 seats and the National Democratic Alliance securing 293 seats of the 543 Lok Sabha seats, PM Modi is set for a third consecutive term as India’s Prime Minister with the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) (BJP) emerging victorious in the parliamentary elections.

He will equal Jawaharlal Nehru’s record by becoming Prime Minister of India for the third time after completing two full terms. Several leaders and heads of state from the neighboring region and the Indian Ocean region were invited to Prime Minister Modi’s inauguration ceremony as distinguished guests, a testament to India’s “Neighborhood First” policy.

PM-designate Modi will take the oath of office at 7:15 pm today along with his council of ministers in a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) unanimously passed a resolution to elect Narendra Modi as its leader on June 5.

Around 1,100 traffic constables of Delhi Police have been deployed and a notice has been issued to the public that arrangements of traffic movement routes have been made for the delegates as part of the preparations for PM-designate Modi’s oath-taking ceremony on Sunday . Additionally, NSG commandos, drones and shooters will also protect the Rashtrapati Bhavan for the mega event.
