‘Likes’ are now only visible to you and the author on Elon Musk’s X.
New Delhi:
A day after making likes private on his social media platform X, Elon Musk said on Thursday that the move has resulted in a huge increase in the number of likes for millions of users around the world.
The tech billionaire made all likes private by default to help people avoid retaliation from trolls and “better protect user privacy.”
In a new post on X, he said there was a “huge increase in likes after they went private.”
After this change, X users will not be able to see posts that other users have liked on the platform.
However, users can still see posts they liked, and the original post writer can see who liked them.
According to the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, the change is important to allow people to like posts without being attacked for doing so.
According to the social media platform, ‘likes’ are now only visible to you and the author.
“The author will be notified, but no one else. The marker is only visible to you. We could even make it customizable for users,” according to the company.
