A complaint was registered with the Department of Health.
In a shocking incident, a family from Perth, Australia, was given insecticide as juice at a restaurant. Couple Marcus and Michele Lemin ordered cranberry juice for their daughters at Miky’s Italian restaurant on June 28, according to a report from New York Post Office. The incident is now being investigated by health authorities.
However, Hannah and Olivia, aged 11 and 12, were horrified and spat out their drink. Michele Lemin said: “My daughters went to swallow it and they both spat out the cranberry juice and said ‘It’s poisoned’. I said don’t be silly, picked up the glass, went to swallow it and then it spat it out.”
Now worried parents claim they were given a pink mixture of lamp oil and citronella torch. Marcus Lemin smelled the liquid and asked to see which bottle it came from. He said employees first refused, stating it was just “old cranberry juice.”
However, he finally took the bottle out of the refrigerator. The man said he received a citronella insecticide from the beverage refrigerator. The bottle was labeled “more bifenthrin” and included a warning, according to the report. “The manager wouldn’t give my husband the bottle, and another waiter stood up and told everyone it was okay,” Michelle said.
The family was rushed to the hospital, where they showed several symptoms and were under observation for six hours. The mother continued: “My daughters’ stomach was burning, their fingers and hands were tingling. They had a headache… it was horrible.”
Hannah, 12 years old, said 9News that it was “really disgusting and tasted like you would expect from bug spray.” Olivia added: “It felt like someone had thrown fire into your belly and it felt like you had pins and needles in your arms and legs.”
A complaint was registered with the Health Department and the City Council. The restaurant said it was investigating the incident. A staff member told 9News the situation was “very concerning.” “Everything about this is under investigation and when I know exactly (what happened) I will let you know,” he said.
