The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are attacking targets in several areas of the Gaza Strip, it posted on social media platform X on Tuesday.

Sixteen Palestinians were killed and dozens were injured, Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.

The report said the IDF announced it was taking action against the Palestinian Islamic movement Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) targets in Gaza City, where the army has been deployed for several days. “So far, forces have eliminated dozens of terrorists,” the army said in a statement.

Six people were killed in an Israeli attack on a building in the city, WAFA reported. Rescue teams managed to recover a child alive. There were also new attacks on the city in the northern coastal region, some of which were deadly, the report said.

The IDF said it is also continuing its operations in the Shejaiya neighborhood of Gaza City and Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, and many terrorists have also been killed there.

The IDF forced doctors at al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City to close the hospital, WAFA reported, citing medical sources. After the area around the hospital came under heavy fire, all patients and displaced people there were forced to leave the hospital.

The IDF denied this and said civilians were asked to leave Gaza City’s combat zones as a precautionary measure. However, the call does not apply to hospitals and medical facilities.
