The woman has now left the hospital and is recovering.

A 44-year-old woman in the United States was left with horrific injuries after being attacked by a group of highly venomous spiders. According to New York Post Office, Jessica Rogue was cleaning out a shed outside her Atlanta home when she found several brown recluse spiders. Less than 24 hours later, she was rushed to the hospital because her face, arms and throat swelled and she was covered in rashes.

A bite from a brown recluse spider can cause necrotic (rotting) skin lesions and lead to serious reactions or even death in some. In Ms. Rogue’s case, brown recluse spiders bit her in several places. According to PublishShe suffered horrific injuries, with her face swollen and her skin “on fire”.

“I was there sweeping and I immediately felt something on my face, near my eye. I felt like I was bitten,” Rogue said. “There were spiders on me. Where I was, it was a very messy web and I was trying to clean it up,” she continued.

According to her GoFundMe page, the 44-year-old also suffered numbness and loss of mobility in her hands and feet. And she said she is “very worried” about her eye. “My eye is in a lot of pain. I just don’t know what’s going to happen to my eye,” she told the local news outlet while wearing an eye patch.

A GoFundMe to help Ms. Rogue with medical expenses has raised $8,097. “She has numbness and loss of mobility in her hands and feet (still not sure if it’s temporary or permanent) and her skin is on fire,” wrote fundraiser organizer Morgan Underwood. “She can’t work and has three beautiful daughters,” the page said.

In an update, Underwood added that Rogue is out of the hospital and is recovering. “The swelling on his face has greatly reduced,” and “is now covered in a painful, itchy rash,” the page said. “Her arms, neck and chest are also covered in a painful, itchy rash, and the areas where she was bitten are blistered, so we are keeping an eye on that,” the update said.

Notably, the brown recluse spider is the most common and widespread of the brown spiders, but is generally found only in the southern and central United States. It is a small species that can grow up to 0.5 centimeters in length. Its bite, however, can deliver a powerful venomous blow.
