James Michael Cline was 64 years old.

James Michael Cline, the financial executive who launched the movie box office business Fandango in 2000, died by suicide at age 64 in Manhattan on Tuesday morning after jumping from the 20th floor of the Kimberly Hotel, according to a report in Variety.

According to a statement from the New York Police Department, authorities arrived at the hotel at 10:19 a.m. and found “a man unconscious and unresponsive with injuries indicative of a fall from an elevated position. The investigation remains ongoing.”

According to TMZhe left a suicide note in her room.

After leaving Fandango, which is now owned by NBC Universal and Warner Bros, in 2011, Cline founded Accumen, Insureon and Accolade through his company Accretive, which had also made an investment in Fandango. He also ran several technology companies and venture capital businesses, including hedge fund Bridgewater Associates.

He was the executive chairman of Justapose, a business incubator that helped establish companies such as Orchard, Tend, Earned, Great Jones and Nectar. He was also an advocate for animal protection and served as president of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.

Cline earned her MBA from Harvard Business School after graduating from Cornell University.

He is survived by his wife Pamela B Cline and their six children. According to the outlet, they spent more than $20 million for their 5-bedroom lakefront home in Palm Beach in late 2020.
