New Delhi:

Millions of Windows users around the world are experiencing the Blue screen of death (BSOD) error that is causing the system to suddenly shut down or restart. Microsoft in a message said that the error is being caused due to a recent CrowdStrike update.

The bug affected several companies, banks and government offices around the world. Most Indian airlines turned to X (formerly Twitter) to share the update with passengers.

Social media users posted photos showing their screens stuck on the recovery page displaying the message: “It appears Windows did not load correctly. If you would like to restart and try again, choose Reset my PC below.”

Major U.S. airlines, including American Airlines, Delta Airlines and United Airlines, issued groundings Friday morning, citing communications issues. U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said the department was monitoring flight cancellation and delay issues at Frontier, adding that the agency will hold the company and all other airlines “accountable with their responsibilities to meet the needs of passengers.” “.

Microsoft, in a statement, said it was taking “mitigation actions” following service issues. “Our services are still continually improving as we continue to take mitigation actions,” the company said in a post on X.

“We remain committed to treating this event with the highest priority and urgency as we continue to address the persistent impact on Microsoft 365 applications that are in a degraded state,” the company added.

What is the blue screen of death

Blue screen errors, also known as black screen errors or STOP code errors, can occur when a critical problem forces Windows to shut down or restart unexpectedly. You may encounter a message stating: “Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer” or a similar notification.

These errors can result from hardware or software problems. If you recently installed new hardware and encountered a blue screen error, try shutting down your PC, removing the new hardware, and trying to restart. If restarting is difficult, you can start your PC in Safe Mode. For detailed steps, see instructions on how to start your PC in Windows Safe Mode.

Additionally, consider updating Windows with the latest patches through Windows Update, seeking help from other sources, or restoring Windows to a previous restore point.

How to Fix Windows Blue Screen Error

If none of these measures resolve the blue screen error, use the blue screen troubleshooter available in the Get Help app:

  • Open the Get Help app in Windows.
  • Type “Troubleshoot BSOD Error” in the Get Help app search bar.
  • Follow the step-by-step instructions provided in the Get Help app.
