Israel on Saturday carried out airstrikes on Yemen’s port city of Hodeidah, media loyal to Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi militia reported.

Houthi spokesman TV al-Masirah said that the “American Zionist [Israeli] aggression” targeted oil storage facilities in the port of Hodeidah, causing fires and thick smoke.

The broadcaster, citing the Houthi-controlled Ministry of Health, said the Israeli strikes left people dead and injured, without providing specific figures.

The attack came a day after the Houthis claimed a drone attack on a “key target” in Tel Aviv, in what the militia said was retaliation for Israeli military action in the Gaza Strip.

A Houthi official confirmed Saturday’s attack was Israeli and promised retaliation.

“[There has been] an Israeli aggression on Hodeidah and a fire in Yemen’s main port,” said Nasruddin Amer, deputy head of the Houthis’ media authority.

“Yemeni operations in support of Gaza will not stop and the response to this aggression is inevitable,” he said in an X post.

Houthi militants have also attacked ships in the Red Sea and have said they want to force an end to Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip, which followed the unprecedented massacre by the Palestinian Islamic organization Hamas in Israel in October.
