Chocolates have become a viral sensation

What is Dubai’s viral pistachio chocolate bar made of and what is it called?

Fix Dessert Chocolatier is said to be the brains behind the gooey delight, which explodes with unusual fillings.

From filo pastry and vanilla cream to tea and biscuits, these thick chocolate bars have been selling like hot cakes.

The bars are handmade and have a Middle Eastern feel.

While nutty is the most popular, other flavors include dates, a spiced tea mixture called karak, and knafeh, a traditional Arabic dessert made with dough, pistachios, sweet soft cheese and syrup.

Dubai’s large expat population also inspired some of the flavors.

Make Your Own Buiscoff is a white chocolate bar filled with crunchy Lotus cheesecake paste.

While Cereously Chewsy is a piece of milk chocolate filled with Nutella fudge brownies, cream and cereal.

A video of TikTok food influencer Maria Vehera eating a bar in her car has been viewed more than 68 million times to date.

Who created the viral pistachio chocolate bar?

Fix founder Sarah Hamouda launched the brand in 2021 as a side hustle.

The 38-year-old has lived in Dubai for nine years, where she started her venture.

Inspired by her pregnancy cravings, the Anglo-Egyptian businesswoman decided to create something beyond the “typical” chocolate shot.

“We put a lot of time and effort and put a lot of love into our bars,” said Hamouda CNN.

It’s not just a chocolate bar, she said: “We want to create an experience.”

The buzz around the brand has been “unreal,” says the entrepreneur, noting that the company’s daily orders have soared from single digits to 500.

Every trend has its moment. But I think we have so much more to give and I think this is just the beginning for us.

“To be honest, at no point did I think this would go global,” says Hamouda, adding that he has received messages and video responses from people in Canada, Argentina and Romania.

“It’s crazy what’s happening.”

With the international attention came some problems.

“Keeping up with demand has definitely been a challenge,” Hamouda added.

Where can I buy the viral pistachio chocolate bar?

FIX, which stands for “incredible experience”, is currently only available in Dubai.

The chocolate bars, weighing 200 grams and costing $20 each, are sold exclusively by food delivery service Deliveroo.

However, it is only available from 5pm each day.

They are limited to 500 orders daily and Hamouda notes that they often sell out within minutes.

This shortage has sparked a trend of similar chocolate bars popping up on online retail platforms, with many home chefs trying to create their own versions.

Despite the potential competition, Hamouda is actually satisfied with the imitation.

There were chocolate spin-offs in the USA

“We’ve gotten messages from people saying, ‘thank you for inspiring us to be creative at home,’ so that’s something I’m proud of,” she says.

Fans’ intense desire to experience unique flavors and textures has given rise to a “dark chocolate market” where bars are sold in South Africa at exorbitant prices.

Hamouda said she is impressed by the reaction and suggests that Fix is prepared to enter international markets in the near future.

“We have a lot in the works,” she says.

“Every trend has its moment. But I think we have a lot more to give and I think this is just the beginning for us.”

The buzz about Dubai’s distinctive chocolate bar has reached every corner of the US.

Some local bakeries and cake shops in the states quickly adopted the trend and created their own versions – with many struggling to keep them in stock.

There are even pretzel-flavored mixes

These large bars are selling for $25 each and require refrigeration.

Each supplier adds a unique touch to your recipe.

For those interested in their own DIY version, the chocolate bar has shredded puff pastry, pistachio pieces, and a touch of tahini—a sesame flavoring commonly found in hummus.

Once cooled, it’s decorated with edible embellishments such as gold “glitter dust” and glitter for a touch of sparkle.

However, beware of online scammers who sell fake bars for exorbitant prices.

What other foods have gone viral on TikTok?

In April 2024, social media went wild when Aldi announced the arrival of the viral TikTok Takis Snack to your stores.

The rolled corn tortilla is known for its spicy and intense flavor.

O cookie has also hit UK shelves.

The cookie and croissant mix was created in a chic boulangerie in Paris and is now being sold in London after the trend exploded on social media.
