Air traffic has resumed at Germany’s Cologne/Bonn airport after five climate activists glued themselves to the apron, a police spokeswoman said on Wednesday morning.
The major international airport, which suspended flights at around 5:45 am (03:45 GMT), said there would be delays and cancellations, but the exact number would be assessed during the morning.
Criminal charges have been filed for crimes against the Act of Assembly, dangerous interference with air traffic and trespassing, she added.
Protest group Last Generation wrote on social media platform X that several of its activists cut a fence and glued themselves to the road near the runways.
Last Generation said the action was part of an international protest campaign calling for the phase-out of fossil fuels by 2030.
The protest was planned to take place simultaneously at airports in more than 10 countries around the world, he said.
