Ukraine has released its first official Western video Shadow Storm Missiles being used in combat.
Ukraine’s air force on Sunday shared images celebrating its 20th anniversary.
Buried in the clip were images of Storm Shadow being launched from a jet and then flying through the sky.
You can see the video here:
The video showed a British-flagged missile and a French-branded one, using an alternative name for the missile, SCALP, common in France.
Ukrainian outlet Defense Express reported which was the first video showing Storm Shadows being deployed in live combat.
He said they were fired from a Su-24, one of the types of jets Ukraine uses to carry the missiles.
Business Insider was unable to immediately verify these claims, but images of them in action are very rare.
One 2015 video from the missile manufacturer, MBDA, shows Storm Shadows in action, but does not specify whether the footage shows test scenarios or actual warfare.
The Ukrainian military also considered this the first official footage capturing the missile’s live launch.
Storm Shadows are cruise missiles jointly developed by the United Kingdom and France.
Both countries have supplied missiles to Ukraine and the United Kingdom was the first country to supply cruise missiles to Ukraine when he gave Kiev the first Storm Shadows in May 2023.
Ukraine has used them for long-range attacks, including one attack where these missiles were apparently used to hit the Russian Black Sea Fleet headquarters in Crimeathe Ukrainian peninsula that Russia annexed in 2014.
Ukrainian Air Force video footage appears to show this attack.
