The Prince and Princess of Wales’ youngest son turned six today – as the occasion was marked with a beaming photo of cheeky Louis being shared online.

A cute photo, believed to be unedited, was taken by Kate in Windsor in recent days to mark Louis’ special day on Tuesday.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told The Sun the Twitter post was meant to bring happiness to the public and show the strength of the royals as Kate undergoes cancer treatment.

He exclusively said: “Well, I’m really pleased that the tradition of publishing a photograph of the children of Wales on their birthday has continued because it’s incredibly important.

“I mean, it’s so important that you want privacy, or as much privacy as possible, for the future king and his brothers as they grow up.

“William and Catherine, absolutely and rightly so, are so obsessive about this.

“But on the other hand, of course, the royal family needs the media to convey its charitable messages.

“It’s a careful balance and involves having photographs of them on specific occasions.

“And it’s very important because it’s reasonable. People would want that.”

Richard added that despite Kate’s shocking cancer announcement, the Welsh will still post a photo from their wedding anniversary this week.

“I mean, whether it’s the current one or not is unknown, but I’m really happy that it’s being kept and the royal fans will be happy.

Prince William and Kate’s affectionate royal nicknames revealed

“It sends a positive message [during a tough time for the royals].

“And you know, it’s something that people will be excited to see. And it’s a link we want to maintain.”

The prince’s birthday photo, posing head-on in a garden, was shared today on Kate and Wills’ social media.

In the photo, Prince Louis can be seen wearing the Camel Check Oliver shirt from Trotters, which normally retails for £50 but is currently on sale for £25.

The proud parents said: “Happy 6th birthday Prince Louis!

“Thank you for all the kind wishes today.”

Kate’s Sweet Tradition for Louis’ Birthday

SHE may be a princess, but Kate Middleton is just like the rest of us when it comes to wanting to make a fuss about her kids’ birthdays.

In 2019, the royal appeared in Mary Berry’s A Berry Royal Christmas and revealed that she “loves” making birthday cakes for her children from scratch – and now it’s become something of a household tradition.

“It’s become a tradition to stay up until midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and frosting and make too much,” she said.

“But I love it,” she added.

And with her daughter Charlotte’s ninth birthday just a week away on May 2, she’s likely to be keeping busy in the kitchen.

Royal expert Danielle Stacey said Hello: “The Princess of Wales’s number one priority has always been her children.

“She has supported George, Charlotte and Louis through all their major milestones, including George’s first big exams last year.

“We’ve seen the princess take incredibly fun and playful portraits of her children over the years and make their birthday cakes.

“She likely feels it is important to maintain these traditions to maintain a sense of normalcy.”

Prince Louis has always stolen the show by joining his parents William and Kate on big royal occasions.

In December, cheeky Louis blew out the candle being held by older sister Princess Charlotte at a service at Westminster Abbey.

The youngster was also photographed playing around during a carriage ride and a porch appearance at last year’s Trooping of the Color.

Louis was seen scrunching his face, pinching his nose, messing up his hair and pointing his finger at the sky on his way to the ceremony.

He even covered his ears and stretched his arms while standing on the Buckingham Palace balcony during an RAF flyover.

And the prince was too seen trying to distract his sister Charlotte as they chatted during his grandfather’s coronation.

He was seen making cheeky faces outside the church before the historic ceremony began – before disappearing from view.

The young prince reappeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, where he banged his fists on the wall and made more faces.

As a child, the prince won the nation’s love with his antics on the balcony of Buckingham Palace during the Platinum Jubilee.

Royal expert Phil Dampier said: “It’s been a great year for little Prince Louis, who is becoming a star in his own right.

“He is a real live wire and always seems up for a joke or a funny gesture with his older brothers.

“His older sister, Charlotte, already seems to have his measure, and keeps him just this side of excessive exuberance.

“But as Prince Louis grows up, we’ll all love to see what he looks like.”

In May last year, Princess Kate blurted out Louis’ family nickname during a visit to a scout hut in Slough.

Kate helped Louis while he ate some marshmallows by a campfire.

The doting mom can be heard saying, “Put that on the fire, Lou-bugs!”

What is Prince Louis’ official title?

WITH his cheeky smile and playful nature, Prince Louis has certainly left his mark on the royal family.

The royal is the youngest son of the Prince and Princes of Wales – and like his brothers, he has an impressive title.

Kate and William’s youngest son holds the formal title of His Royal Highness, Prince Louis of Wales.

Before his father was named Prince of Wales, Louis was known as His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge.

Another title he carries is His Royal Highness Prince Louis of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
