MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry arrived at Nigeria’s defense headquarters to meet military wives and senior officials.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are on a three-day “faux-royal” trip to the African country, having arrived this morning.
Harry was seen inspecting a guard of honor, with armed guards guiding the couple to the venue.
They had a private meeting with the Chief of Defense Staff, followed by a press conference at the base.
The Sussexes will take part in “cultural activities” during the 72-hour trip.
The escape was labeled a “faux royal trip”, which could cause headaches for members of the Firm.
Tomorrow Harry is expected to field his own team during a sitting volleyball match played by Nigeria’s Invictus team, before he and Meghan meet more soldiers and their families.
That afternoon, Meghan will host a Women in Leadership event with Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, a Nigerian-American economist who is director general of the World Trade Organization.
Then, on Sunday, the Sussexes will attend a basketball clinic that promotes young people’s entry into the sport, enjoy a cultural reception and visit a fundraising hub.
Earlier today, they were photographed greeting schoolchildren and taking selfies at a gym sponsored by the Archewell Foundation.
The Sussexes looked loved up as they danced with the youngsters before Meghan praised her “smart” husband, who she said “always tells the truth”.
They were greeted with a ‘Welcome’ banner with flowers announcing their arrival, which read: “We are honored to have you!”
They were photographed walking hand in hand at Lights Academy just hours after arriving in Abuja.
The pair had a secret meeting in London yesterday before departing Heathrow.
Harry, 39, flew to Britain on Tuesday, with Meghan, 42, arriving from Los Angeles.
Just hours before they boarded their flight, King Charles was photographed beaming in Surrey, while Prince William visited a site where homes for the homeless were being built.
Harry also spoke about how he felt about his time in the UK.
The Duke was encouraging the Duchess to spin, as she laughed before placing her hand on her husband’s shoulder at Lightway Academy.
Later, in a sweet speech, Harry told a crowd of schoolchildren that there is “no shame” in feeling bad.
He told the young people: “There is no shame in being able to recognize that today is a bad day, okay?
“That you woke up this morning sad; that he was at school, stressed; who has lost a loved one in their family and doesn’t know who to turn to or who to talk to.
“All these things that you might even be led to believe are not for talk.”
