The Princess of Wales is “excited” after being well enough to be briefed on the findings of a task force she set up to help under-5s.

Kate, 42, is yet to return to her public role four months after undergoing hospital surgery and later revealing she is undergoing preventive cancer treatment.

But she read a 60-page report on her early years project and said she had kept “up to date” with the work published today.

The mother-of-three launched the Royal Foundation’s Early Childhood Enterprise Working Group in March last year.

In a speech at Natwest headquarters, she said it was time to think “radically” to create a workforce that was “resilient, flexible and capable of bridging differences”.

She added: “The healthy development of our children depends on healthy adults.”

The report published today (Tuesday) suggests that investment in the early years could generate at least £45.5 billion into the national economy every year – equivalent to 25 per cent of the government’s annual spending on the NHS.

Eight major companies – including Iceland, Ikea, Lego and Natwest – have signed up to follow the report’s findings.

The Princess of Wales is said to be looking forward to seeing “the momentum build in the coming months and years” as the project she created “proceeds whilst she recovers”.

A spokesperson for the Princess of Wales said: “This should not be seen as the Princess of Wales returning to work.

“The work on the prince and princess projects is always active. This is no different at the Early Childhood Center. Over the past five months, there has been great progress.

“However, early childhood is a huge priority for the Princess of Wales.

“She has been fully updated throughout the process and development of the task force’s work and has seen the report.”

Kate created the task force last year and left it in the hands of businesses to develop the report for the Royal Foundation.

Although Kate is not meddling in government policy, it is understood the center has shown the report and findings to 10 Downing Street and the Health and Education departments.

Christian Guy, chief executive of the Royal Foundation Center for Early Childhood, said: “I know, having briefed the Princess on this, that she is enormously grateful to the members of the task force who have made such fantastic progress on this work over the last year. .

“She feels passionate about the transformational impact of doing this right, along with business, for both the current generation and many more to come.

“And I know she wants to encourage all companies, regardless of the size of their purpose, to join us on this journey.

“She looks forward to seeing the momentum build in the coming months and years.”

Original statement from Kensington Palace regarding Kate Middleton’s surgery

KENSINGTON Palace released a statement in January after Kate underwent surgery.

Sources made it clear that Kate would be out of action until at least Easter.

The palace said: “The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate.

“She hopes the public understands her desire to maintain as much normality as possible for her children; and her desire for her personal medical information to remain private.

“Kensington Palace will therefore only provide updates on HRH’s progress when there is significant new information to share.

“The Princess of Wales wishes to apologize to everyone involved for having to postpone her upcoming engagements.

“She hopes to reintegrate as many as possible, as quickly as possible.”

Christian added: “She is thrilled about this, having eight of Britain’s most important companies coming forward to stand up for their fellow business leaders is vital and exciting for her and a priority for the future of our center and its work.

“When she launched, she really challenged companies to go beyond business as usual.

“That’s why these five areas are defined, including social and emotional skills.

“We often hear companies talk about why they are so important, but we wait a long time before focusing on them in our system.

“Science shows us that they are crucial in the early years, so she is very excited about that in particular.

“Companies are saying we want to engage, invest and shape the future workforce now.”

Kate created the center to encourage businesses to prioritize early years and bridge the gap between science and UK business.

The proposals announced today include changing business culture to prioritize early childhood, helping families access basic support, offering parents greater support and flexibility at work, strengthening social and emotional skills and supporting initiatives that increase access to care.

Prince William is a pillar of strength for Kate

EXPERT analysis from author and real expert, Ingrid Seward:

Steadfast when his family needed him, William proved himself to be a man and future monarch of strength and compassion.

While he may not have been present during Kate’s courageous video speech — make no mistake, he was by her side every step of the way.

William stepped up with schoolwork and provided a “great source of comfort and security” for his wife.

But he has also been a comforting, reassuring presence for audiences.

From leading members of the Royal Family in the Commonwealth Day Service to enjoying lighthearted banter with young people on a visit to a youth center, he didn’t put a foot wrong.

But ultimately, he is only human.

Having your father and wife diagnosed with cancer in such quick succession is heartbreaking.

It is a remarkable insight into this young man’s character that he was so incredibly brave.

Theirs is a very private turmoil, which has been brought into the public arena by the nature of their roles as future King and Queen.

William must feel the weight of an enormous responsibility, both personally and to the monarchy, of which he is now the public face.

But he knows his most important role is as a father and husband.

He will make this his priority.

This is a distinct difference from the customs of the past, where your royal role came before the role of spouse and parent.

Think back to when the queen was young.

William’s priority is his family

Back then, it was a man’s world – and she was forced to abandon her children in a way that William is determined not to do.

William and Kate waited until the school term was over and their children were home before making the public announcement.

They needed to be prepared.

In this, they will have the unconditional support of Charles – who knows what it’s like to be raised by nannies.

William was also acutely aware of his father’s lack of presence in his life, especially when things went wrong.

In 1991, he was accidentally hit in the head with a golf club when he was at school and Diana was having lunch at her favorite restaurant, San Lorenzo.

The call came that William had been hit in the head and they thought he might die, so it was very serious.

Charles and Diana rushed to Ludgrove.

William was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital and then to Great Ormond Street Hospital and Diana went with him.

But always a man of duty, Charles prioritized his commitments.

William is determined to do things differently.
