WHEN it was announced that Prince William would attend next week’s D-Day celebrations without Catherine, I wondered if she would be fit enough to attend the Trooping the Color rehearsal.

Even when you’re fully fit, the Colonel’s Review is a pretty tough day to get in and out of carriages and then appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace with your family.

If you are unwell, the day when you have to look your best can be quite tiring and scary.

Cancer treatment is extremely tiring and Catherine may well have thought she would not be able to cope with this stage of her recovery.

She is a wonderful ambassador for our country, but it is only fair that she takes her time, improves accordingly and does not rush back to work.

It would be great if we saw her at Royal Ascot or in the Wimbledon VIP box this summer.

But if we don’t see her in public until the fall, I for one will be happy to wait as long as it takes for Kate to get well.
