PRINCESS Kate sent a moving letter to the Irish Guards before missing the Trooping the Color dress rehearsal amid her recovery from cancer.
The regiment – of which the royal is colonel-in-chief – shared a video on X this morning showing the note being read to troops as they prepared for today’s precursor event.
She said her role as Colonel “remains a great honor”, adding: “I am very sorry that I will not be able to receive the salute at this year’s Colonel’s Review.”
The Colonel-in-Chief would normally receive the salute at the review, which took place this morning.
It’s a big hint that she will miss the main ceremony on June 15 entirely – although there is a chance she could watch it from the balcony of Buckingham Palace and not take an active role.
In post X, the Irish Guards said: “The Irish Guards were deeply moved to receive a letter from our Colonel, HRH The Princess of Wales this morning.
