KING Charles standing shoulder to shoulder with Princess Kate proves they are fighting together in unprecedented times, a royal expert has said.

A beaming Kate stood alongside Charles on the Buckingham Palace balcony this afternoon as they waved to the cheering crowd.

Excited fans erupted as the royals stepped out for the monarch’s birthday, in Kate’s first public appearance since Christmas.

It was the first time Princess Kate attended a public royal event since she and Charles were diagnosed with cancer.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said the late Queen would have been proud of Charles and Kate’s “gesture of solidarity”.

Richard told The Sun: “I think the image that so many people will have is of Catherine standing next to King Charles on the balcony.

“This could be interpreted as a gesture of solidarity and support from Charles to Catherine.

“Let’s be frank. It would have been very stressful to carry out the entire ceremony.

“Everything is at the center of a global media storm. Britain is known for its ceremonial brilliance.

“King Charles and the Princess of Wales knew very well that all public movements would be photographed.

“Obviously, this was something that went very well and the image was one of absolute solidarity.”

Richard added: “The monarchy has faced serious illnesses in recent years.

“They had problems – problems with the Sussexes and with Prince Andrew.

“But this was very different and you could see the solidarity and sympathy.

“I would pay her the highest possible compliment – I believe the late Queen would be proud of the way they handled the situation.”

Charles and Kate stood side by side this afternoon, waving to thousands of well-wishers.

The day was marked by rain, but the rains couldn’t dim Kate’s glow as she smiled alongside Prince William and their children.

Kate was seen playing and laughing with Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six.

And when they stepped out onto the balcony alongside the rest of the Royal Family, the crowd roared.

The princess was seen smiling from ear to ear alongside “devoted” Wills, with her children mirroring them.

Sweet princes George and Louis waved both hands to the crowd with their sister by their side.

Everyone watched as more than 30 aircraft took to the skies as part of the celebrations – including a tribute to a fallen RAF pilot.

Less than vermin, Kate’s trolls must stop their vile vitriol after the Princess’ brave appearance today – but I fear they will never be satisfied, says expert

ROYAL expert Richard Fitzwilliams has slammed the shameless trolls who targeted Kate during her illness.

Richard told The Sun: “I want to say they are inferior to worms, to coin a phrase.

“But you have to accept that trolls are an integral part of life on social media.

“Unfortunately, I wish there was a way to police better, but there isn’t.

“I mean, I think there will be less, because people can obviously see it for themselves.

“But I despair the moment it disappears.”
