THE SUN’s campaign to help the UK’s struggling baby banks helped create the UK’s first national bank network, the Baby Bank Alliance.
Baby banks are community organizations that support families in need with everything from cribs, diapers and wipes to clothes and books.
Shocking new figures released today by the Baby Bank Alliance reveal that almost 200,000 British children were supported by baby banks last year.
The research also showed a 54% increase in referrals to baby seats between 2021 and 2023.
Sophie Livingstone, Chair of the Baby Bank Alliance said: “All children should have a safe place to to sleepwarm clothes and shoes that fit.
“Without baby seats across the UK providing this incredible safety net, thousands of children would be missing out.”
Last year, generous Sun readers and powerful British businesses donated more than £100,000 to Baby, Bank on Us and Cozy at Christmas campaigns, as well as many volunteering their time and donating second-hand goods.
The Baby Bank Alliance will bring together Britain’s 200 baby banks, enabling them to support each other and work together.
The Fabulous Baby, Bank On Us appeal, supported by The Princess of Walesexposed how families hit by the cost of living crisis depend on baby banks.
The Baby, Bank On Us campaign is led by Princess Kate, who said “I’m so proud to support you.”
Kate Middleton, 42 – known for her work to elevate the importance of early childhood – encouraged people to volunteer or donate to the Fabulous campaign, as “today’s children will build today’s society.” future.”
Pop star Leona Lewis, 39, TV presenter Christine Lampard, 45, Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins, 49, pop star Alexandra Burke, 35, and TV personality Kate Lawler, 44, also passionately supported the campaign.
