Princess Ingrid Alexandra is the granddaughter of the ruling Norwegian King Harald V.

The future Queen of Norway is 20 years old.

The king of Norway guaranteed that girls would take precedence over their male siblings to become queen if she was born first.

Where was Princess Ingrid Alexandra born?

Princess Ingrid was born in the capital of Norway, Oslo, at Rikshospitalet University Hospital.

Growing up, Princess Ingrid Alexandra attended a local state primary school.

She later enrolled at Oslo International School, a private English-language school, because her royal parents wanted her to be fluent in English.

The Princess of Norway began her 12-month military service as a conscript in the Nord Brigade Engineer Battalion on 17 January 2024.

When asked by the battalion commander if she “regrets her choice to join the Engineer Battalion,” the royal responded, “I don’t.”

Military service is mandatory in Norway, with Norwegian citizens required to serve from the age of 19 to 44.

Although military service is a mandatory requirement for Norwegian citizens, it is highly selective.

With an acceptance rate of just 17%, the Princess was one of the few to be selected and reports revealed that the Princess does not receive any special treatment.

The company commander, Hågen Vangsnes, revealed that the princess “has to wash the floor, calm the room, make the bed and attend classes.

“We have the same expectations of her as all other soldiers.”

In May 2017, Prince Sverre Magnus went viral for dabbing on the balcony of the Royal Palace during his grandparents’ 80th birthday celebration.

The two share an older half-brother, Marius Borg Høiby, who is their mother’s son from a previous relationship.

Marius was just 2 years old when his mother married Crown Prince Haakon.

In 2017, Høiby left public life to study business in California.

Marius Borg Høiby remains without a royal title or any official duties.

Is Princess Alexandra related to Queen Elizabeth?

The princess’ grandfather, King Harald V, and the late Queen Elizabeth were second cousins and shared the same great-grandparents.

Queen Elizabeth was the only head of state to make three state visits to Norway.

These close ties to the British monarchy mean that King Charles III and Princess Alexandra are also second-degree (once removed) relatives.

As the late Queen Elizabeth and the late Prince Philip were third cousins, King Harald V was also independently related to the late Prince Philip.
