KING Charles’ cancer diagnosis has unlocked emotions he didn’t know he had – and he is no longer “allergic” to the family’s PDA, a body language expert has claimed.

It comes after the King was all smiles at the Windsor Horse Show today after asking aides to “overload his diary”.

The photos show the 75-year-old monarch beaming as he embraces his niece Zara Tindall, with body language expert Judi James saying he was once a “victim of her PDA”.

But following his shock cancer diagnosis in January, it appears the royal has become more emotionally liberated.

Charles is “raring to go” while still receiving treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer, palace sources shared.

His treatment program is ongoing, but doctors are “sufficiently satisfied” with the progress so far, meaning he can now resume a range of public duties.

And according to Judi, he’s doing it with great enthusiasm.

“Charles was never a man who enjoyed his PDAs; in fact, he often seemed allergic to them in the past,” she told Fabulous.

“But his illness seems to have released a more overtly emotional side to his body language.

“Here at the races, a day off that he loves, the new signs of affection are exposed in a glorious way.”

FAMILY BOND

The photos of Charles and Zara smiling and hugging are particularly revealing, says Judi.

“Zara has always been extremely demonstrative with her uncle, throwing some very tactile PDA at him in her usual spontaneous and exuberant way,” she explains.

“Charles has, in the past, responded with body language signals that made him seem like a delighted but very passive (or shy) ‘victim’ of her affectionate displays.

“But here it is totally, openly and affectionately reciprocal.

“Zara opens her arms in an intentional gesture, looking like a child asking for a hug.

“Charles grabs her arms to hug her in response and his face is wreathed in smiles of authentic happiness.

“The pair look closely – which for Charles is incredibly rare.

“They then share a very touching, tight, laughing hug that suggests mutual joy that Charles is out of the house again.”

CANCER TREATMENT

The Palace did not reveal what type of cancer the King has, nor what treatment he has received.

What we do know is that he began a “regular treatment program” in February and doctors are pleased with his progress.

King Charles’ return to public duties

Everything you need to know about the King’s return.

Q: Does today’s announcement mean that King Charles’ cancer treatment has been successful or completed?

A: The King’s treatment program is ongoing, but doctors are “sufficiently satisfied” with the progress so far and Charles can now resume several public duties. Other real commitments will be adapted where necessary to reduce any recovery risks.

Q: How long will King Charles receive treatment?

A: Although it’s too early to tell, King’s medical team is “very encouraged” by the progress made so far and remains “positive” about his recovery.

Q: How many engagements will King Charles undertake in the coming weeks and months?

A: They will be announced closer to the time in the usual manner and will remain under doctor’s direction. It will not be a full summer program. Her Majesty will continue with all official State and selected public business.

Q: Is there a risk that King Charles is taking on too much responsibility with these external roles?

A: King’s schedule will be carefully crafted to meet his recovery needs and he will be in close consultation with his medical team.

Q: Will King Charles take part in the birthday parade, D-Day celebrations, garden parties, Royal Ascot or an autumn tour abroad?

A: Planning continues regarding ways in which the King and Queen will be able to attend these summer and fall engagements. All plans remain under the doctor’s guidance.

Q: How is King Charles?

A: The Palace said: “Her Majesty is greatly encouraged to resume public duties and is very grateful to her medical team for their continued care and expertise.

A statement said: “No further details are being released at this stage other than to confirm that Her Majesty does not have prostate cancer.”

Despite the tumultuous moment, Judi notes that Charles has been showing his “playful side”.

CHILDISH AND ATTENTIVE

This is evident in her wide and “cheeky” smile, as well as her hugs with her niece.

“He seemed quite cheeky with his body language,” says Judi.

“He looks very young again, quite childish.

“We see him looking over his shoulder and smiling from corner to corner to look quite cheeky.

“He usually seems playful and fun.

“This is not just with Zara, but with everyone else in the race.”
