PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle’s new interview may have shown how the couple have no plans to “fix this rift” with the royal family, an expert says.

Richard Fitzwilliams told The Sun that parts of Sussex’s interview on CBS’s Sunday Morning program could “undoubtedly harm the institution” by reopening old wounds.

The couple launched The Parents Network – a new project that connects families who have lost children to suicide after being victims of cyberbullying – in the interview with Jane Pauley.

During the chat, Meghan said she hopes “being open” about her own suicidal thoughts and “online bullying” can “save other people.”

The couple also reflected on their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, in which Meghan first revealed her mental health struggles.

She told the American host that she “couldn’t be alone” and “didn’t want to be alive anymore.”

Before making a big claim that Buckingham Palace’s HR department ignored his pleas for help.

Oprah’s interview was played before the camera returned to the Duke and Duchess, with royal commentator Fitzwilliams saying the decision to include her could be a clear sign of the Sussexes cutting ties.

He explained how Oprah’s interview “was like putting a nuclear bomb in the courtyard of Buckingham Palace” when it was published.

If you want a relationship of any kind and give interviews of this kind that bring back memories that will undoubtedly harm the institution, of course you won’t get it

And that highlighting the troubling claims once again can only cause greater conflict with the royals.

Fitzwilliams told The Sun: “The way they are using a clip from an interview that has caused so much damage to the royal family.

“I can’t believe that at a time like this, with King Charles and the Princess of Wales seriously ill, the Sussexes should bring up issues that deal with or are linked to their feud with the royal family.

“What Meghan said in the CBS interview about her mental health issues and the fact that she felt suicidal is a very serious accusation against the royal family.

“If you want a relationship of any kind and give interviews of the kind that brings back memories that will undoubtedly harm the institution, of course you won’t get it.

“It doesn’t seem like any of them want to fill that gap or fix that gap.”

Meghan and Harry will never be invited to a meeting for two main reasons – it’s a mess, says expert

This comes just weeks after former royal butler Paul Burrell claimed that Prince William is keeping Princess Kate and her family “well away from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.”

Paul, who has worked for the Royal Family for 21 years, said there is currently “no way” the Sussexes can make peace with the Welsh family.

Harry has previously criticized the royal family in his bombshell memoir Spare, where he claimed William ‘attacked’ him in a row over Meghan.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also revealed details about the royal family in their Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan.

Meghan and Harry were surprised when the topic of suicide came up in the interview, not expecting to reference the 2021 interview.

The royal expert added: “I can’t criticize the message and I certainly can’t comment on the state or otherwise of Megan’s mental health while she was a senior royal.

“As well as saying that it is a tragedy that when they were royals everything went so disastrously wrong.”

Despite concerns about the impact of the chat, Fitzwilliams was full of praise for the new project launched by the couple.

He said: “The Parent Network is absolutely welcome. There is no doubt that this is a very important issue, especially in our time.

“And as Harry was saying the last few years, you didn’t have to worry about that now.

“It’s the age of social media. Everyone has their cell phones and you know it can cause harm.

“I mean, there’s no doubt about it. This aspect, I think, is very significant and obviously should be welcomed.”

The project will see the group of parents meet primarily online to help support parents who have lost children to suicide and online harm.

Harry and Meghan called for urgent change to “keep our children safe” on social media in February this year.

The Sussexes heard about their parents’ “heartache” during the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on children’s online safety.

The parents of two said that even the “best parents in the world cannot keep children safe from these platforms”.

In a statement published on the Archewell website, the couple said the issue transcended division and party lines and that this is “not the time to pass the buck.”

Meghan was also seen beaming as she spoke about her children Archie, five, and Lilibet, three.

The proud mother-of-two said: “Our children are little, three and five, they are amazing.

“But all you want to do as parents is protect them.

“And so, as we can see what’s happening in the online space, we know there’s a lot of work to be done and we’re so happy to be able to be part of the change for good.”

Jane Pauley highlighted how when children ask for help, people expect there to be someone who can provide it.

Harry replied: “If you know how to help… At this point we have reached the stage where almost all parents need to be the first to respond.

“Even the best rescuers in the world would not be able to notice the signs of a possible suicide.

“That’s the terrifying part of it.”

It turns out that body language expert Judi James told The Sun that Meghan looked “heartbroken” during the interview, trying to get reassurance from an anxious Harry.

O Prince seemed cautious and anxious while next to his wife, said the leading body language expert.

A Timeline of Prince Harry’s Family Feud

THE first hints of friction emerged after William was introduced to Meghan when she was staying at Kensington Palace.

Once she returned home to Canada, William and Harry sat down for a sibling chat.

He knew Harry was already crazy about her, but it was claimed he advised him to take it slow.

The younger prince reportedly didn’t take the advice very well, with a royal source saying he “went crazy.”

Then, in June 2019, Harry and Meghan officially split from the charity they shared with William and Kate.

The Royal Foundation will be split between the Sussexes and the Cambridges, while the couples focus on their own separate charitable efforts.

Prince William and Prince Harry first established the Royal Foundation in 2009, before Kate joined two years later, shortly after their engagement was announced.

The trio often appeared together at events and the Foundation has had huge success with projects such as the Invictus Games for injured veterans and the Heads Together mental health campaign.

The Royal Foundation said the decision was made after completing a review of its structure – but added that the two couples would continue to work together in the future.

Harry and Meg lived near Kate and Wills on the Kensington Palace estate, but moved to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor before baby Archie was born.

The move further fueled rumors of a fallout.

Harry also hinted in his ITV documentary “Harry and Meghan, An African Journey” that he and his brother had grown apart.

In 2021, Harry and Meghan gave their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, where Harry accused his father of holding him back financially.

Harry then flew back to the UK to join William in unveiling a statue of his mother, Princess Diana, in the grounds of Kensington Palace. But sources said William did not want to attend the memorial amid the fallout.

In 2022, shortly before the death of her grandmother, the Queen, sources claimed that Kate acts as a “peacemaker” between the siblings.

Harry claimed his brother “knocked him to the ground” during an argument about Meghan, in his memoir.

In Spare, Harry said William labeled Meghan “rude” and “difficult” during a fight.

Harry claimed that William “grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and…knocked me to the ground.”

He said he was left with a visible injury to his back after the 2019 argument at Nottingham Cottage, in the grounds of Kensington Palace, where he lived at the time.

In January this year, Harry flew to be with Charles following the shock of the monarch’s cancer diagnosis.

Harry flew back to the US the next day – without seeing Wills.

In May, he visited the United Kingdom for a three-day visit without seeing King Charles or Prince William.
