Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped down from royal duties in 2020 to pursue his own projects and recently announced that he will tour Colombia.

Speaking to Fabulous, Phil said: “Suddenly the lean-by-default monarchy seems very narrow, so they are in short supply, and obviously if they were still working royals, Harry and Meghan could have taken on a role. lots of slack.

“So it’s frustrating.

“But we are where we are and in some ways, you know, we will have to wait until George, Charlotte and Louis are another 10 years old before they can begin to perform their duties.

“And in the meantime, it’s going to be difficult.

“Harry and Meghan could have lifted a huge weight off their shoulders, and certainly the late Queen had big plans for Harry and Meghan.

“She thought they would be perfect to travel around the Commonwealth and represent it, and represent the Royal Family, and carry on after she was gone.”

Phil claims Meghan and Harry created a “rival court” across the pond in California, but said their designs often don’t coincide with William and Kate’s.

He continued: “Now that they [have] configured as this type of rival courtthey will obviously hope that the things they do don’t overlap with what William is doing.

“He is [William’s] there are Earthshot Prize events he’s involved in in South Africa later in the year, and Harry, of course, has his Invictus Games, as long as they don’t directly conflict in terms of dates, and they try to score points on each other. others and are not directly competing in the same field, I think they can continue.

“But it’s just tragic that it’s come to this, that they’re doing their own thing.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have confirmed a new “faux royal” tour just months after their “memorable” visit to Nigeria.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were personally invited to spend a few days in Colombia by the country’s vice president, Francia Márquez.

It is understood they will take a flight this summer, in November, when their schedule will include trips to the capital Bogotá and the Pacific regions of Cartagena and Cali.

The pair are set to “experience Colombia’s rich heritage” on a significant visit just before a conference on ending violence against children is held there.

It will be Harry and Meghan’s second trip after their visit to Nigeria in May.

The couple spent three days in the West African country, meeting with residents and local leaders.

The Duke and Duchess spent three days in Nigeria to promote the 2025 Canadian Invictus Games in May 2024.

The trip was originally planned to mark the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games, which Nigeria joined for the first time last year.

The couple was personally invited by the country’s chief of defense staff, in the hope that Nigeria could host a future edition of the games.

After visits to a war zone and Meghan claiming Nigeria as “my country” – Harry said there are “limits” to what he and his wife can do over Zoom.

At a Women in Leadership event on Saturday, Meghan revealed that she was 43% Nigerian thanks to a genealogical test.

She said the discovery for her and her mother was “exciting for both of us” because being African-American “is really not knowing much about your lineage or origin, where you come from specifically.”

FREEDOM OF SUSSEX

Phil commented on people who called the trip to Colombia a “fake royal trip”: This is obviously something that royalty and courtiers can’t stop them from doing.

“If they receive an invitation from another country, they can do whatever they want and participate in these events.

“Sometimes it feels like they are setting themselves up almost as an alternative royal court.

“And they’re trying to be royalty, although, of course, they’re not really representing the Royal Family.

“So I’m not sure that Buckingham Palace, I’m not sure that the king and the courtiers who advise him are necessarily very happy about this, but there’s nothing they can do to stop them and they’ll just have to hope that they on any of these trips, whether in Nigeria or Colombia, do not get into any kind of diplomatic problem.

“Because if they did, obviously there would be all kinds of problems.”

ROYAL INVITATION

Francia Márquez said of the planned trip: “I am pleased to announce that Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have kindly accepted my invitation to visit our beautiful country.

“During their trip, the Duke and Duchess will join me to visit Bogotá, as well as the Caribbean and Pacific regions of Cartagena and Cali.

“In these vibrant locations, you will have the exceptional opportunity to interact with leaders, young people and women who embody the aspirations and voices of Colombians committed to progress.

“His visit comes at a particularly significant time, as it precedes the first Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence against Children, which will take place in Colombia next November.

“The Archewell Foundation, founded by the Duke and Duchess, is known for its global leadership in promoting a safer online environment.

“The upcoming conference will reveal a comprehensive framework for creating safer physical and digital spaces, addressing issues such as cyberbullying, online exploitation and mental health impacts of these threats.

“It will offer viable solutions and commitments to countries around the world.”

Vice President Márquez added that she is “confident” that the Sussexes’ visit “will shine a light on Colombia’s role as a beacon of culture and innovation.”
