KING Charles will never allow Harry to return as a part-time royal – and it will be a “big job” to repair the broken bond with Prince William, an expert has said.

Esteemed royal reporter Richard Palmer spoke on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive program and dismissed any theories that the Duke could be welcomed back as a working member of the royal family.

Speaking to The Sun’s royal editor Matt Wilkinson, the royal expert believed Harry, 39, and Meghan, 42, could try to “force it” but would be quickly denied.

“I just can’t see that happening. I just don’t think it’s in the plans,” he said.

I think the king is open to reconciliation, but I don’t think he’s open to the idea of Harry working part-time as a royal.

“Although I must say that at the time of the Sandringham Summit, a senior royal aide, who was very close to the now king, was saying that this was entirely possible.

“They were open to discussions, but something changed and the Queen, encouraged by Charles and Prince William, essentially said ‘no, we can’t accept this, there’s no way back, they’re either in or they’re out’.”

The bitter rivalry between the brothers has sparked heartbreak among many experts, who reflect on the once “very, very” close bond the royals shared.

Charles Rae previously spoke on The Royal Exclusive about how Harry used to be in line to act as Prince William’s chief adviser.

He claimed the distant relationship would break Diana’s heart.

“They were very, very close. And that’s what makes it so sad that they are now so far apart,” he said.

“When William becomes king, I always believed that Harry would be one of his main advisers.

“I think that’s out the window.”

‘A GREAT JOB’

Speaking about Her Majesty and the Prince of Wales repairing their broken bond with Harry, the royal expert claimed it would be a “much longer process” for Wills.

“I think Harry and his father are trying to reconcile,” Butler said.

“I think with William it will be a much longer process.

“But eventually, perhaps, you know that many families have disputes and in time they can heal their divisions, but there is still a lot of work to be done with William.

What is Megxit?

The Sun coined the term “Megxit

On January 7 of that year, we revealed Meghan and Harry’s bombshell plans to move to North America and separate themselves from the royal family.

And on January 9, after the Sussexes confirmed their plans on Instagram without telling Queen Elizabeth II, we used the headline ‘Megxit’.

Inspired by Brexit – the term coined after Brits voted to leave the EU in 2016 – Megxit is now on the Collins Dictionary’s list of top 10 new words.

On January 7, we exclusively told how Prince Harry and Meghan were set to cut ties with the Royal Family and move abroad to start a new life together.

The Sun also revealed how the Sussexes wanted to move their office to Canada and abandon their HRH titles.

And just one day later, the royals announced on Instagram their plan to “step back” from their roles and become financially independent.

The pair said they wanted to “develop a new progressive role” while supporting Queen Elizabeth.

Harry and Meghan also said they would split their time between the UK and North America – but have so far spent most of the year at their California home, worth £11 million.

Megxit was inspired by the term Brexit – which was Collins’ word of the year in 2016, following the EU referendum that saw Britons miraculously vote to leave the bloc.

“I think the king is open to reconciliation, but I don’t think he’s open to the idea of Harry being a part-time working royal.

“I think they drew a line in the sand at Sandringham all those years ago where he basically said you can’t work part-time as a royal, you’re either in or out.”

‘MEGHAN ON THE WAY’

It turns out that another royal expert has claimed that a “reunion” could be on the cards between Harry and Wills when the Duke visits the UK later this year.

The father of two is set to cross the pond to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games.

It would be Harry’s first time in Britain since his sister-in-law, Princess Kate, announced she was receiving treatment for cancer following surgery in January.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams has revealed that although a possible reunion could happen soon, the future king has “already been through enough”.

I watched Meghan and Harry destroy the royal team, nothing ever went right and there was always a big inquiry, explosions expert

And the royal commentator has already dubbed Meghan an obstacle in the way of resolving “one of the worst public royal disagreements ever”.

He stated: “Meghan has the say. There is no doubt that Harry wants to convey that he is a very devoted family man and will put them above all else.

“If Meghan didn’t want to come, she could never be forced to do so.

“It would be extremely unlikely that Harry would come with the children without Meghan.”

A timeline of Prince Harry and William’s ‘rivalry’: Brothers ‘at war’

In 2018, the Sun told how the “simmering tension” began when William questioned the speed of Harry and Meghan’s engagement.

The first hints of friction emerged after William was introduced to Meghan when she was staying at Kensington Palace.

Once she returned home to Canada, William and Harry sat down for a sibling chat.

He knew Harry was already crazy about her, but it was claimed he advised him to take it slow.

The younger prince reportedly didn’t take the advice very well, with a royal source saying he “went crazy.”

Then, in June 2019, Harry and Meghan officially split from the charity they shared with William and Kate.

The Royal Foundation will be split between the Sussexes and the Cambridges, while the couples focus on their own separate charitable efforts.

Prince William and Prince Harry first established the Royal Foundation in 2009, before Kate joined two years later, shortly after their engagement was announced.

The trio often appeared together at events and the Foundation has had huge success with projects such as the Invictus Games for injured veterans and the Heads Together mental health campaign.

The Royal Foundation said the decision was made after completing a review of its structure – but added that the two couples would continue to work together in the future.

Harry and Meg lived near Kate and Wills on the Kensington Palace estate, but moved to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor before baby Archie was born.

The move further fueled rumors of a fallout.

Harry, 39, also hinted in his ITV documentary “Harry and Meghan, An African Journey” that he and his brother had grown apart.

This came after Prince Philip called Meghan “DOW”, after the Duchess of Windsor – the American divorcee who led Edward VIII to abdicate.

And he warned the late queen to be “cautious” with Harry’s then-fiancée, claims a royal author.

Ingrid Seward revealed in new book My Mother And I that Prince Philip felt it was “strange… how much Meghan reminded him of the Duchess of Windsor”.

In 2021, Harry and Meghan gave their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, where Harry accused his father of holding him back financially.

Harry then flew back to the UK to join William in unveiling a statue of his mother, Princess Diana, in the grounds of Kensington Palace. But sources said William did not want to attend the memorial amid the fallout.

In 2022, shortly before the death of her grandmother, the Queen, sources claimed that Kate acts as a “peacemaker” between the siblings.

Last year, Harry claimed his brother “knocked him to the floor” during an argument about Meghan.

In his book Spare, Harry said William called Meghan “rude” and “difficult” during a fight.

Harry claimed that William “grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and…knocked me to the ground.”

He said he was left with a visible injury to his back after the 2019 argument at Nottingham Cottage, in the grounds of Kensington Palace, where he lived at the time.

In January this year, Harry flew to be with Charles following the shock of the monarch’s cancer diagnosis.

Harry flew back to the US the next day – without seeing Wills.
