PRINCE Harry and King Charles should see each other if Meghan Markle doesn’t come to the UK, says royal expert.

Prince Harry, 39, will head to Britain next week on what will understandably be a solo trip as wife Meghan chooses to stay in California.

In events that clash with father Charles, Harry will attend a Thanksgiving Service at St Paul’s Cathedral as part of the Invictus Games tour on May 8.

And ITV News royal correspondent Chris Ship told The Sun’s Royal Exclusive that father and son would set aside their schedules to meet up, as long as Meghan wasn’t in tow.

Chris Ship said The Sun’s Royal Exclusive Show: “Relationships are very difficult within that family and I think yes, it would be a lot easier if Meghan wasn’t there.

“But you know she’s still the king’s daughter-in-law and they still have two children who are the king’s grandchildren.

“You’d expect them all to see each other.”

A source said Meghan had “shown no interest” in returning to the UK.

The former actress is yet to introduce two-year-old Lilibet to the Royal Family – which Chris said could give the royal a “boost” during his battle with cancer.

He added: “Wouldn’t it be good if they brought the kids and they all went to see their grandfather because that would really give you a boost.

“Imagine if Harry and Meghan came with their grandchildren, if we could see them, or one of them for the first time.

“That would be quite something.”

It comes after claims that Meghan would not go on the transatlantic trip with Harry for fear of being met with a “hostile reception”.

Richard Fitzwilliams previously told The Sun that “the Sussexes do not have the trust of the Royal Family” and he is not surprised that Meghan will not arrive in London with Harry.

He said: “I never thought Meghan would come because of the hostility towards her, but I want to say that no one needs to emphasize that it is hostile.

“And in any case, her presence at the reception would overshadow the message of the service, and you wouldn’t want that, as far as Harry is concerned.

“You have to hope that everyone is interested in resolving the dispute, so I hope that can happen.

“But this will happen because of private contact, contact that we would not know existed.

“I mean, this has a much, much better chance anyway. But the problem, essentially, is one of trust.

Prince Harry’s last visit to the UK

PRINCE Harry last stepped off a plane to Britain in February as King Charles announced his cancer diagnosis.

The royal, however, only stayed with her father for 30 minutes after flying 5,000 miles.

The Duke of Sussex, 39, touched down at Heathrow after a ten-and-a-half hour overnight flight.

He was flown to London while Charles, 75, delayed a helicopter flight to Sandringham so they could hold their first meeting in 16 months.

In an unusual move, Charles kept his helicopter waiting so he could personally welcome Harry to his London home, Clarence House.

Sources said the king made a “significant” decision to postpone his travel plans following his son’s gesture of crossing the Atlantic at short notice.

The meeting is believed to have lasted just over half an hour, with Harry and his entourage leaving Clarence House around 45 minutes after their arrival.

It was the first time he and Charles had met in private since the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022, although they remained in contact by phone.

“The Sussexes do not have the trust of the royal family. That Oprah interview, which caused so much damage, was actually released at a time when the Duke of Edinburgh was ill in hospital.

“This is something the royal family would not have forgotten either.

“But looking to the future, I must of course hope that the royal feud will be resolved in some way. The king has always kept the door open for Harry, but that does not necessarily mean that he would invariably receive a warm welcome.”

This is despite Meghan having already participated in the Invictus Games with Harry in Toronto, Sydney, The Hague and Dusseldorf.

She hasn’t set foot in the UK since attending Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022.

Chris Ship added that Meg was avoiding the UK because she didn’t want to be booed by the British again.

The last time Harry and Meghan were in St Paul’s was for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, where they emerged from the car to an overwhelming sound of boos.

He continued: “The difficulty is that you remember the last time they went to St Paul’s Cathedral, which was for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, they were booed.

“We heard boos for them. We should make it clear that there were people rooting for them too, but there were definitely boos in St Paul’s Cathedral.

“So going back there, I can see why Meghan might not want to accompany Harry there.”
