MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry are in a “battle to raise Archie and Lilibet as royals and Americans,” says a royal expert.

Esteemed royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams has claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s children face an “unorthodox upbringing for the rest of the world”.

Splitting time between the UK and the US can be a nightmare for the royal couple.

Meghan will face a “hostile press” and “feud with the Royal Family” if she crosses the ocean with Archie and Lilibet – who “have obvious links to Britain”.

It’s a balance between Harry raising them as royals and Megan raising them as Americans

Richard Fitzwilliams

Richard Fitzwilliams told The Sun: “There is no doubt that Megan and Harry are raising Archie and Lily in the same way in the States as they would here.

“Because obviously you take the occasional photograph or are rightly obsessed with privacy.

“Also, you’re dealing with very young people, in terms of the extraordinary circumstances that Archie and Lily find themselves in, the fact that they are being raised in the United States and yet, of course, have obvious links to Great Britain.

“And obviously the British royal family, I mean, if they ever decide to use those titles.”

Although the future is unknown, the expert questioned the Duke’s bid for greater security and how comfortable his wife – previously considered “toxic” – would feel in the UK.

“Megan is extremely unpopular, and that feeds into the narrative that is tied to her children, because they are very unlikely to come without their mother, and if Megan does come, she knows full well that she will first have a hostile press,” continued Fitzwilliams. .

“Secondly, there is the disagreement with the royal family.

“That doesn’t bode well.”

He also believed it would be “a long period of time” before any healing could happen to Prince William.

The royal commentator believed there would be more fuss over Archie and Lilibet in the United States.

“They may well be extremely popular, but their parents are not,” he added.

“I think his parents certainly, the way things are going, at least at the moment, have prepared an unorthodox future for him.

“It’s a balance between Harry raising them as royalty and Megan raising them as Americans.”

But Fitzwilliams said it will be normal for children “who have never known anything else”.

He added that the real difficulties will arise later in life, “if they decide to use royal titles”.

‘KING LEFT THE DOOR OPEN FOR HARRY’

It turns out that Harry has announced his return to the UK in a few days for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games Foundation.

He will arrive at the Thanksgiving Service at St Paul’s Cathedral on Wednesday 8th May.

Archie’s birthday comes just two days early and will mark the same day as King Charles’ first coronation anniversary, May 6.

It will be the first time he has been in Britain since Princess Kate announced she was receiving cancer treatment on March 22.

While experts have speculated that a face-to-face reunion with King Charles may be on the cards, it could be a much longer process with the Prince and Princess of Wales.

“The king always kept the door open for Harry, but that didn’t necessarily mean he would invariably get a warm welcome,” Fitzwilliams said.

“It will take time. But it is clear that the situation has changed in recent weeks beyond all expectations.

“I don’t think it would be very difficult, it depends on how you define reconciliation.

“I think there’s still a long way to go before Harry brings Meghan and the kids.”

The royal expert also spoke about Harry’s meeting with Wills and Kate: “We don’t know, but Catherine is receiving preventive cancer treatment and there’s no doubt it’s a very difficult time for her, and it’s very unlikely she’ll want visitors . which may be somewhat controversial, whatever the intention.

“William has a very deep conflict with him and I don’t see it being resolved instantly.

“The Sussexes do not have the trust of the Royal Family.”

‘WATCH THIS SPACE’

And The Sun’s royal editor Matt Wilkinson answered all of our readers’ burning questions about Harry’s transatlantic trip.

Including his thoughts on Meghan’s return to the UK, he said: “Talks may be taking place in the background, in the vain hope that Meghan can arrive with her children and meet the King.

“She could join Harry at other Invictus events held next week.

“But I think she knows she’s not welcome and that being the center of attention isn’t going to go over well.

“Yes, I hope she returns on occasional occasions for important events like funerals, weddings or coronations, as Wallis Simpson would. But what about next week? Watch this space.”
