PRINCE Harry jetted off to meet Meghan Markle in Nigeria after his whirlwind trip to the UK.

The Duke of Sussex, 39, touched down in Britain on Tuesday and has already boarded a flight to join his wife.

The couple will participate in “cultural activities” at the invitation of the chief of the Defense Staff of the West African country.

He was pictured heading to Heathrow Airport to board a flight last night.

Harry did not meet the “busy” King Charles on his fleeting trip to the UK, but said he “hopes to see his father soon”.

The Monarch was seen on Tuesday leaving Windsor Castle at around 11am, just hours before Harry touched down.

His son was spotted in London before heading to an Invictus event.

Harry released a statement at around 2pm saying he would not be seeing Charles, due to his father’s “diary of commitments and a number of other priorities”.

Charles then snubbed his son for a second time – announcing that William would take command of Harry’s old helicopter regiment next week.

Yesterday afternoon, King Charles hosted the first party of the year in the palace garden, as one of his first events back in the public eye.

Around the same time, Harry was supported by Princess Diana’s brothers at her Invictus party.

The king was just three kilometers away.

The party ended at 6pm – just as Harry was finishing a service at St Paul’s Cathedral.

It will take time to rebuild Harry and Charles’ relationship – King doesn’t want to be part of his son Harry’s ‘circus’, says expert

Charles, wearing a gray suit and light blue waistcoat, smiled as he appeared alongside other members of the Royal Family.

The monarch took off his top hat for the National Anthem and could be seen smiling at the crowd.

Her Majesty was joined by the Queen, the Princess Royal, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.

A moving video shows Charles greeting and shaking hands with well-wishers.

Charles stops to talk to dozens of people while Camilla tries to lead her husband along.

Meanwhile, the Duke of Sussex was in the same city – hugging his late mother’s brother and sister, Earl Spencer, 59, and Lady Jane Fellowes, 67, outside St Paul’s Cathedral before a church service .

Three cousins – George McCorquodale, 39, Louis Spencer, 30, and Lara Spencer, 18 – sat in a row behind Harry.

Harry’s ‘snubbed’ statement in full:

A spokesperson for Prince Harry said: “In response to the many questions and ongoing speculation about whether or not the Duke will meet his father whilst in the UK this week.

“Unfortunately this will not be possible due to Her Majesty’s full programme.

“The Duke, of course, understands his father’s schedule and various other priorities and looks forward to seeing him soon.”

A decade ago, Charles, Camilla and Prince William joined Harry at the first Invictus Games in London.

Yesterday, Earl Spencer and Baroness Fellowes supported him at the hour-long church service followed by a drinks reception in St Paul’s crypt.

Harry arrived at 5pm and greeted his aunt and uncle before sitting down.

He did a reading, as did actor Damian Lewis. Ingrid Seward, editor of Majesty magazine and friend of Diana, said the Spencers’ presence was significant.

She said: “They are very supportive of Harry and always have been.

“This sends a clear signal to the Royal Family and to Harry that Diana’s family is on their side.

“In his speech at Diana’s funeral, Charles Spencer said he would look after William and Harry in her place.

“He said, ‘We, your blood family, will do everything we can to continue the imaginative way in which you were leading these two exceptional young men, so that their souls would not simply be immersed in duty and tradition, but could sing openly as you had planned’.

Where was Wills?

PRINCE William was just 25 miles away from Harry as he handed out gongs yesterday.

England’s goalkeeping heroes Mary Earps and Peter Shilton received honours.

Shilton, 74, discussed the England men’s Euro prospects with Wills as he was appointed CBE.

He told reporters in Windsor: “I think we can win. You just need a little luck. . . a bad decision by the referee.”

Earps, 31, was appointed MBE for her services to football.

She said it will be the highlight of her season when she plays for Man United against Tottenham in the Women’s FA Cup final on Sunday.

“Charles Spencer wanted the Spencer family to be prominent above all others, but the boys were sucked into the Royal Family.

“Now that Harry has left the Royal Family, the Spencers have claimed him again.”

And now Harry is going on a ‘fake royal tour’.

He and Meghan, who is of Nigerian descent, will meet military personnel and their families and participate in traditional cultural activities, according to local media.

It will be the couple’s first trip to Nigeria as a couple.

Harry has had a long relationship with Africa, even taking his now-wife Meghan to Botswana for a camping trip as one of their first dates.

And in 2019 the couple embarked on a trip through Southern Africa.

The Duchess of Sussex flew with baby Archie to Johannesburg, where they were later joined by Harry after he visited Malawi.

During their time apart, Meghan told the journalist she was struggling to deal with the fact they were apart.

The Duke also set up a charity to help African orphans, Sentebale, with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho.
