PRINCE Harry left Meghan behind to fly to a dangerous “no-go zone” in Nigeria – despite starting over security fears in the UK.

Harry traveled alone to a military hospital in Kaduna state, about 120 miles northwest of Nigeria’s capital, Abuja.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises against all travel to Kaduna, where armed bandits kidnapped 2,000 people in 2020.

Harry visited six neighborhoods where Nigerian soldiers are being treated for injuries sustained in the battle against the terrorist group Boko Haram.

Many of the soldiers were ambushed or shot by terrorists – and some lost limbs in bomb blasts.

Harry was flanked by a security team of four, plus an escort of ten army trucks and three pickup trucks with mounted machine guns.

It comes after Harry lost his legal fight against the removal of his taxpayer-funded security from the UK in February.

The Sussexes were deprived of their round-the-clock protection when they stepped back from royal duties in 2020.

Harry said he was unable to return with Meghan, Archie and Lilibet to the UK “because it is too dangerous”.

Former royal protection officer Ken Wharfe questioned Harry’s visit to the “lawless” region.

He told the Correspondence: “You have to question why he went there if he says the safety of his wife and children is most important.

“If the situation considers this level of protection, then you need to ask why it is there.

“Him saying he feels unsafe in London when he has all that security in London leaves you wondering if it makes sense to go.”

Visiting the hospital, Harry said: “I’m sorry I didn’t bring my wife.

“The focus here in Kaduna is the wounded, wounded and sick men and women who serve in the Nigerian forces and keep people safe.”

Before leaving, hospital staff gave Harry two paintings – one of him with Meghan and another with his mother, Diana.

It is assumed that Meghan had a private engagement and met with Harry when he returned to Abuja.

What level of security protection are working royals entitled to?

SOME working members of the Royal Family have 24/7 protection – but others are assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Senior officers are assigned to specific family members and are supported by others, an expert told The Sun.

He claimed that there will always be at least one protection officer with a member of the Royal Family, but the protection team is increased according to the threat and risk.

King Charles, Queen Camilla and the Welsh family have 24-hour protection and the monarch also has a hall officer outside his bedroom door, the expert said.

O Express reported people like Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, receive protection when attending official engagements – but do not have taxpayer-funded security in their homes.

Prince Andrew had his taxpayer-funded security removed following the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

His daughters Princess Beatrice and Prince Eugenie are said to have not funded security as they do not work full-time as royals – and are employed elsewhere.

Robert Jobson, an award-winning royal author, explained: “According to a 1917 Letters Patent issued by King George V, the title of HRH Prince or Princess is passed to ‘The grandchildren of any sovereign’s children in the direct male line ‘.lineage (except only the eldest living son of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales) will have and enjoy on all occasions the style and title enjoyed by the sons of the dukes of this kingdom.

“Both Harry and Meghan know this. Archie, on the other hand, did not qualify to automatically become a prince.

“In 2012, Queen Elizabeth II issued a Letters Patent to expand an earlier decree that granted such a title only to the eldest son of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales.”
