THE King has come from a brief hiatus in his cancer treatment to a packed diary.

Amidst his heavy commitments, there was no opportunity to meet his son Harry, who came to stay for three days.

But really, who can blame him?

Harry and his wife Meghan have made a lot of money by criticizing their family’s supposed inadequacies and failures.

This means that Charles and Harry’s once-close bond has evaporated.

So Her Majesty’s decision to meet with David Beckham – a long-time supporter of the Royal Family who queued for hours with the public to pay last respects to the late Queen – and not her son, speaks volumes.

There is, however, a certain irony given that Harry was accused of snubbing David in 2018.

It was reported that the once warm relationship had come under pressure due to allegations the prince refused to see Becks at the Invictus Games in Sydney.

Ultimately, Charles’ decision to avoid meeting Harry was not only understandable, but also prudent.

It reflects a monarch’s shrewd judgment in prioritizing public duty over private matters.

After all, the role of the king is not just that of a father, but that of a figurehead of a centuries-old institution and of the nation.
