SINCE stepping down as senior royals, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have managed to make their own money through book sales and branded businesses.

Their various ventures have helped the Duke and Duchess of Sussex be worth around £30 million – however, this is eclipsed by the wealth of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The Prince of Wales is currently the richest member of the Royal Family, with a net worth of around £1.05 billion.

The heir to the throne even beats his father, King Charles III, who is worth £900 million, and it’s all thanks to what he received when he became monarch.

Prince William became a billionaire when he took control of his father’s 687-year-old Duchy of Cornwall estate following the Queen’s death.

Much of the estate comprises agricultural land, but also includes houses and commercial properties, forests, rivers, coastline and around a third of Dartmoor national park, which was once used for mining minerals such as tin and copper.

Prince William was already wealthy after inheriting £10 million from his mother Princess Diana and £7 million from the Queen Mother, who died in 2002.

Royal editor Ingrid Seward told Fabulous: “As working members of the royal family, William and Kate have all their official expenses paid for by the sovereign grant, including clothing for overseas visits.

“But even the vast portfolio of properties and private investments that earn the Duchy more than £25 million a year apparently only leaves the poor Wills with £6 million, after tax, to play with.

“I think he can live with this.”

The majority of Harry and Meghan’s wealth comes from the Duke of Sussex’s inheritance from their late mother, who passed away in 1997.

The inheritance grew to £10 million on their 25th birthday, and after Meghan and Harry stepped down as senior royals, they were free to support themselves independently.

The couple also earned commercial income from a now-defunct £18 million deal with Spotify, as well as a deal with Netflix.

Furthermore, Prince Harry is said to have received a handsome amount for his bombshell memoir Spare.

However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have had big expenses since quitting royal life, including the purchase of their nine-bedroom, £12 million mansion in Montecito, California.

Ingrid added: “Their house in California is mortgaged and their expenses, when they take into account the security that accompanies them everywhere, are enormous.

Prince William’s £1bn Duchy of Cornwall property portfolio

AFTER the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the royal family underwent a major change as the line of succession changed.

Along with senior members taking on new titles, the royals’ £1 billion property portfolio also changed hands, from Charles to William.

The inheritance made the new Prince of Wales the largest private land owner in Britain – owning land in 20 counties in England and Wales.

Much of the estate comprises agricultural land, but also includes houses and commercial properties, forests, rivers, coastline and around a third of Dartmoor national park, which was once used for mining minerals such as tin and copper.

According to royal rules and regulations, the eldest son of the reigning British monarch inherits possession of the dukedom and the title ‘Duke of Cornwall’ at birth or when his father succeeds to the throne.

However, they should not sell assets for personal benefit.

Income from his estate is used to fund the public, private and charitable activities of the Duke and his immediate family.

“They also have to pay US taxes on both their income.

“When they negotiate a deal with networks or publishers, they don’t get the full amount upfront.

“Harry and Meghan employ and pay a large number of people to keep their meager show on the road, including an English PR man, who traveled with them on their recent trip to Nigeria.

“They are not on the poverty line, but compared to the Prince and Princess of Wales they are destitute.”

This comes as the couple’s Archewell Foundation was declared in default and ordered to stop raising money.

This is said to be the result of the Sussexes’ charity failing to submit records – and pay a bill.

O Telegraph reported that Archewell received a notice of default and was prohibited from collecting or spending money until he paid the fees.

It is alleged that the charity did not timely file its 2022 tax return or related costs.

The couple reportedly filed the documents and the check was sent, but it never arrived.

The Sussexes’ staff were apparently unaware that the check had been lost until they received the notice, dated May 3.

Harry and Meghan were in Nigeria – with the duchess giving a sweet nod to Lilibet on Mother’s Day.

They revealed a partnership between Archewell and non-profit organization Giants of Africa, which aims to empower young people through sport.
